| This article is about the movie Decepticon. For the Generation 1 Decepticon, see Meantime (G1). |
- Meantime is a Decepticon Real Gear Robot from the Transformers portion of the movie continuity family.

Meantime is one of many small robots who was once a normal machine brought to life by the power of the AllSpark. Gifted with incredible time-based powers, and cursed with the petty humor to never use them to their fullest. Not only can he slow time around him, but also speed it up and even stop it... and selectively use this on other things too! He'd be almost invaluable to the Decepticons... if he chose to use his powers for something OTHER than making humans get into accidents, then "rewinding" time to watch them do it again.

[edit]- Meantime (Real Gear Robots, 2007)
- TakaraTomy ID number: MD-16
- Known designers: Bill Rawley (Hasbro), Takio Ejima (TakaraTomy)
- Part of the third wave of Transformers Real Gear Robots, Meantime transforms into a (non-functional) digital wristwatch of a made-up model at a roughly 1:1 scale, though you'll need tiny wrists to pull off wearing him in watch mode without cutting off all the circulation to your hand. The display face flips around to display the time properly as a watch, and then again to align for robot mode. He has an Automorph feature as well: pulling his legs down makes his head and shoulders rise as part of the transformation.
- On his left wrist, Meantime features sculpted details intended to look as if he's wearing a wristwatch himself - specifically, a miniature version of his own alternate mode. Bizarrely, the stock photos printed on the back of his packaging that depict a hand-painted prototype include this detail, whereas the other set of stock photos that depicts a pre-production sample features wrists that are mirrored versions of each other, without the sculpted mini-version of his wristwatch mode on either side. (It can't be a misassembled sample because the wrists sport pegs on opposing sides.)
- Despite being a digital watch, Meantime's back has strangely accurate analog watch gears sculpted into it.
- This sculpt was also used to make Midnighter XR-4 and is superficially similar to the Brazilian exclusive Grendene Transformers watch.
Notes
[edit]- The time of 5:17 on his watch face refers to May 17, the date when the second Transformers theatrical trailer was released on the internet.
- The next time January 2 falls on a Wednesday is 2030. Your Meantime figure acts as a functional watch for one second, roughly every six years.
