Buzzworthy Bumblebee

[edit]
Released as part of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee "Worlds Collide" 4-pack, Nemesis Primal is a new-head retool of Kingdom Optimus Primal, transforming from a robot accurate to his heroic counterpart's appearance in the first season of Beast Wars into a purple-skinned gorilla in 22 steps, as well as a third King Kong-styled bipedal gorilla. Nemesis replaces Optimus Primal's distinctive lips-in-mouthplate (based on the animation model) with a more traditional mouthplate (based on the original toy). He also has narrower, eviler-looking eyes.
Nemesis Primal makes up for his size with above-average articulation, including butterfly shoulder joints, double-jointed knees, opening hands, rotating shins for a foot point, and toe articulation in both modes. Nemesis Primal also has fold-out shoulder cannons, two crimson-bladed swords that store on his back in either mode and pop-out jointed forearm blasters. A rarity for the War for Cybertron Trilogy, Nemesis Primal has no 5 mm ports barring his hands, making him largely incompatible with the C.O.M.B.A.T. System. However, he still features 3 mm posts at the end of his blaster tips, as well as his buttflap; helping to replicate Optimus Primal's "Primejets" from the Beast Wars cartoon. Nemesis Primal's hands also feature articulated fingers along with a thumb molded to approximate the 5 mm peg hole, although due to this he cannot hold both swords in one hand as Optimus Primal's original figure could.
Included in the set alongside Nemesis Primal is Blackarachnia, Fangry with Brisko and Bumblebee. Outwardly branded as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy on the packaging, the instructions label the set as part of Studio Series, under the 2007 Transformers movie, instead.
As a redeco of the Kingdom mold, Nemesis Primal likely suffers from the same clearance problems on his waist area, where the painted front thighs are very prone to scraping off from simply manipulating the figure. The most permanent solution would be to disassemble the waist and shave down the contacting surfaces.[1] Otherwise, exercise lots of caution when moving his hips.
As with other Buzzworthy Bumblebee toys, the set was exclusive to Target in the U.S.
