Skybound Entertainment is a U.S. entertainment company headed up by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert, best known for The Walking Dead and Invincible brands. As an imprint of Image Comics, Skybound is the latest publisher of Transformers and G.I. Joe comics, beginning in 2023 with the launch of the shared Energon Universe continuity. The company also publishes other Transformers and G.I. Joe comics not tied to the Energon Universe, such as Transformers: Worst Bot Ever and the continuation of the long-running G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero comic. Their material for pre-teen and young adult readers is published under the Skybound Comet imprint.

[edit]- Skybound was announced in late 2021 to be in negotiations for Hasbro comic licenses[1] ahead of previous licensee IDW Publishing confirming in early 2022 that their license was ending.[2] Their acquisition of the license was eventually confirmed on June 10, 2023, thanks to a promotional artwork poster posted from a comic shop to Tumblr,[3] shortly before Void Rivals #1 went on sale on June 14, 2023.
