While the Ark and the Nemesis were headed towards Earth, Astrotrain and his companions attacked the Autobots' ship hands-on. As the others crawled across the surface of the purple ship, ripping it apart, Tailwind stayed in his vehicle mode and performed strafing runs on the Ark's hull.

After Astrotrain and Stonecruncher sabotaged the Ark's neutron cannon, the group retreated. Their efforts paid off since the Ark crashed on Earth, though Astrotrain and his group suffered damage while entering the atmosphere themselves. • Astrotrain (Multi-pack, 2007)
  • Accessories: 2 missiles
Tailwind was repurposed from Astro-Line.
A redeco of the Giant Planet Mini-Con Team member Overcast, Astro-Line transforms into a modified Martin P6M SeaMaster flying boat bomber. He has a pressure-launch missile launcher under each wing, which becomes his robot-mode arms.
He was only available as part of the Astrotrain set (which also came with Starcatcher, Astro-Hook, and Astro-Sinker), the first toy set exclusive to the Fun Publications Transformers Collectors' Club.
This mold was also used to make the 2010 Transformers toyline's Airlift. The hypothetical Blue Max would've also used this mold, but there's no evidence that figure was ever intended for release in the first place.

Notes

[edit]
  • For his appearance in the IDW comic, Tailwind is based on his counterpart's original Generation 1 body, with the color scheme based on the repurposed Timelines toy.
