A retelling of an old beginning...

Synopsis

In the far reaches of space, beyond where humans have seen, war has been raging between alien life forms on a distant planet...a war that is quickly coming closer than we think...

As a driver idly meanders down a canyon road, a pair of jets flies low above him, causing him to spin out. His confusion turns to horror as he sees the jets turn around, heading straight for him. As they do, he's suddenly passed by a group of motor vehicles barreling down the street. The jets open fire on the newcomers, engulfing the area in flames. All the vehicles suddenly shift into gigantic robots and open fire on one another. The driver is stunned, but before he can even comprehend what he's seeing, the strange visitors have vanished just as quickly as they came.

At a geothermal power plant not far away, the Decepticons are using the facility to energon cubes. As Soundwave confirms they are on schedule, Megatron gloats over the corpses of the plant workers. He orders Astrotrain to deliver the cubes back to Cybertron using the space bridge, but pauses as he senses another figure approaching. Cursing Starscream for his failure to hold them back, he turns to come face to face with Optimus Prime and his Autobots for the first time in four million years. Declaring that all energy in the universes exists for him, Megatron orders the Decepticons to attack.

The Autobots transform back to vehicle mode, Bumblebee nimbly dodging enemy laserfire. Soundwave deploys Frenzy, who uses his piledrivers to disrupt the ground beneath the Autobot. Bumblebee isn't fazed, though, and transforms back to drop Frenzy with a powerful divekick. As he taunts the fallen Decepticon, a nearby voice warns him just in time of Ravage pouncing at him from behind, responding with a roundhouse kick that sends his assailant scurrying away. Bumblebee turns to discover the source of the voice, a plant worker who managed to survive the initial attack. Sensing incoming danger, Bumblebee grabs the human and flees an impending explosion, tossing the human inside himself as he shifts back to vehicle form. As another jet approaches, Bumblebee warns his passenger to brace for a bumpy ride and promises to explain everything lager, and swerves to avoid his foe's gunfire. Watching the battle unfold beyond his savior's windows, the human can do little more than process the sight of the many transforming robots battling one another, wondering what their purpose is as Optimus and Megatron lunge at one another.

Notes

• This chapter is a VERY broad-strokes adaptation of the last act of "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1", with various differences such as Sparkplug's absence and Spike working at a geothermal plant instead of an oil rig.
