General Seward is a, er, general in the United States Military. He not only talks with the Autobots but also views them as a potential asset against the Decepticons, making him the smartest army-related comic character who ever lived.

[edit]In a divergent timeline, the Decepticons succeeded at Mission City and conquered the United States. Seward was part of the delegation that, at the sight of a raw energon field in Florida, discussed the AllSpark-caused techno-organic apocalypse striking the Earth.
