Backtrack is an Autobot from the Transformers portion of the movie continuity family.

Backtrack is a bike! An expert at tracking and reconnaissance, he won't rest until he finds his quarry, whether it's across the Earth or into outer space. A loner by nature, he prefers the silence of solitude to being around others. For this reason, he avoids big cities, travelling through remote back roads and small towns.

In Tyran 511.0 Kappa, Backtrack was one of the few Autobots to successfully elude Cemetery Wind. Once Cade Yeager revived Optimus Prime, he answered his leader's summons and reunited with other surviving Autobots, Bumblebee and Bulkhead. When Decepticons Axel and Wild Rider answered the call out of desperation, Backtrack was skeptical of their true intentions. While they ultimately learned to appreciate Wild Rider, Axel made an unsuccessful attempt to sell the team out to Lockdown that resulted in his death. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/09/16

Part of the canceled fifth wave of Target exclusive 2007 movie series Scouts (along with Reverb and Gunbarrel), Backtrack is a redeco of Cybertron Lugnutz, transforming into a motorcycle resembling a Harley-Davidson touring bike. Plugging a Cyber Key into his left saddlebag in either mode would have flipped up a portion of his right tailpipe to reveal a (non-firing) blaster and missile rack from his right saddlebag. His left tailpipe assembly would have become his rifle.

In early 2010, about two years after the first samples had surfaced, considerable quantities of the three unreleased Scouts were sold on eBay. Each of them came packaged with two instruction sheets, one in English and one in Spanish, suggesting that the batch was initially intended for the Mexican market. However, based on information from Mexican fans, the toys never actually made it to retail there.

This sculpt was also used to make Hightail.

MOTORIN'! WHAT'S YOUR PRICE FOR FLIGHT?

• Backtrack's license plate reads MR 37, which combined with the color scheme makes this a very pointed homage to the Guardian GoBot Night Ranger. The license plate itself was apparently issued in Kentucky, making Backtrack's color scheme also likely a University of Kentucky Wildcats nod.
• Aside from the Real Gear Robots, Backtrack and Mudflap were the only toy-only characters from the 2007 movie toyline not to appear in any of IDW Publishing's various tie-in comic series. Backtrack never even showed up in Titan Magazines' Transformers series!
