So are we going to go with "long live" or stick with "banzai" in the lyrics' case? I'm pretty neutral, but "long live" would be for those that don't know a lick of Japanese (even with the note at the bottom). --[[User:Lonegamer78|Lonegamer78]] 10:53, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

:I don't mind either, actually. I just used it because that's what the official subs use. "Banzai" is hardly an obscure word though - most eight year olds know it (at least they did when I was that age) even if they do think it's a battle cry. But then that's what the note's for. I dunno, if you want to swap it out I'll go with whatever. - [[User:Magnus Maximus|Magnus Maximus]] 11:15, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

"Banzai" vs "long live"

[edit]

So are we going to go with "long live" or stick with "banzai" in the lyrics' case? I'm pretty neutral, but "long live" would be for those that don't know a lick of Japanese (even with the note at the bottom). --Lonegamer78 10:53, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

I don't mind either, actually. I just used it because that's what the official subs use. "Banzai" is hardly an obscure word though - most eight year olds know it (at least they did when I was that age) even if they do think it's a battle cry. But then that's what the note's for. I dunno, if you want to swap it out I'll go with whatever. - Magnus Maximus 11:15, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
I wanted to use "hooray for the Autobots" on the DVDs personally, but it didn't make it through. - Chris McFeely 11:23, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
Shall we go with that, then? I like it better than "long live" anyway. Dunno why, just do. - Magnus Maximus 11:55, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
"Banzai"(万歳) is literally translated into "Long live", and is equal to "hail" (<-most used) or "hooray" in Far East area. --TX55TALK 12:00, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
My gut says just go with "Banzai". It's in the OED, so it's technically a loan-word. Plus, of course, there's a Transformer named Banzai(tron). --Jimsorenson 12:04, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
