Picture uploading
[edit]Hi, I removed that pic of the towtruck you uploaded onto Longarm's page, because the file size was far too large (the wiki software warns you when you upload a filesize over its recommended limits) and since there is no information as to where it comes from (TFW2005 is not the source in this case), I don't know of the legality of using it here. --FFN 14:39, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

About the Translation of Episodes titles of Japanese Transformers
[edit]I wonder these translated titles of The Headmasters and Super-God Masterforce is official or unofficial? Because some of them are a little bit strange. For example,
- This should be translated into "The Chosen Hero - His Name is Ginrai" instead of "A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai".
- This should be translated into "A Fierce Battle!! The Cybertrons are in Danger" instead of "A Fierce Battle!! The Cybertrons are in Trouble".
and several others. Well, I am just a little bit curious. --TX55 11:10, September 12 2007 (UTC)
- Well, those examples are a bit "six of one." Neither one would especially seem to be more accurate than the other. The translations employed for the wiki (at least in the case of Masterforce and when I come to it, Victory) are those used on the official R2 DVD releases, as translated by Jordan Derber. The only time I've changed any of them is when the English hasn't been parsed the same as the Japanese (compare "Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt" with the DVD's "The Decepticons' Terrifying Manhunt," which sounds better, but doesn't match the way the sentence is actually written in Japanese). - Chris McFeely (not signed in)
- Oh, I understand. Thank you. 01:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Primal launcher?
[edit]Hey, TX55. In this edit you said that Primal's chest was originally going to be some sort of launcher, and also added the "fact" template to your statement. Can you... provide any sort of reference yourself? I can't imagine how there could be a launcher there on that toy. (Also, you marked your edit as "minor" even though you were adding actual content to the page, which is probably a bad idea. Minor edits are for things like spelling fixes or changes of word choice, not for when you put new information in.) --Steve-o 21:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've revised it. I used "citation need" because I know it was seen on the guide book, but I am not sure which one on the day I added it. Now I find the source. (Also, thank you for the . I understand now.:))--TX55 03:01, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! That sounds neat. Do you have a copy of the image? --Steve-o 15:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- I am really sorry, I wish I had. :) The guidebook only features the text description. I really Hope there will be a complete guidebook featuring all the control arts of Beast Wars. ^^ --TX55 15:16, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Scrambles
[edit]Hi, your article on Scramble Seven reminded me of something. Do you know what these are?
They're from this book. --Monzo 22:04, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Mmm, I know the book but never read before. The two combined forms are just called "Super Scramble". They seems only show up in this book. I don't remember seeing them in the HM anime. ;D Every member formed the giants has their unique ability.
- Autobot Super Scramble, formed by:
- Scattershot, who gives the giant powerful firepower. (Torso and gun)
- Skydive, making the giant capable of using high speed punch. (L. arm)
- Air Raid, the man who works in strategy for the giant. (R. arm)
- Blade, making the giant capable of moving quickly. (L. foot)
- Nosecone, a tough man who has high durability.
- Decepticon Super Scramble, formed by:
- Hun-Gurrr , who gives the giant powerful strength. (Torso and gun)
- Dead End, making the giant capable of using a fiece punch. (L. arm)
- Blast Off, making the giant capable of using high speed punch. (R. arm)
- Brawl, making the giant capable of standing firmly. (L. foot)
- Cutthroat, making the giant capable of jumping high. (R. foot)

PNG files
[edit]It is preferable to upload jpegs instead (unless an image is a chart or something that needs to be very clear), because .png files are several times as large as jpeg files. I recommend you re-upload all of the screen captures you have already uploaded as jpegs. Thanks. --FFN 17:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I got it. --TX55 17:31, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'd also say they could stand to be larger in the visual sense. I don't think we have a real standard, but I usually go for 500 pixels wide on the long side as a good trade-off between the required "low resolution" and the image actually being clear and visible. -- Repowers 17:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm afraid that I can only get the 315*240 files at present time. --TX55 17:44, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Kansai?
[edit]Why include a link to a page about the Kansai dialect when Teletran 15 specifically speaks in a Kyushu dialect? If there's no page on Kyushu dialect available, a Kansai dialect page still isn't going to be of much use, is it?--Apcog 14:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Chinese names
[edit]Why are you reverting that guy's addition of the names used by characters in China? It's just as legit as the Japanese, Brazilian, Hungarian or French-Canadian aliases used by characters. --Detour 07:51, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Names in Chinese-speaking region is somehow... a little bit chaotic, even thought the formal names exist, not every media use the same names. For example, TV use the A set while some magazines use the B set. Also, the anonymous user's edits are not so correct. I will try to rewrite about it. :) ps. IIRC, those names should be used in Taiwan instead of China. --TX55 07:59, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Japanese name
[edit]Why are you moving stuff around in the lists of foreign names? They're placed in alphabetical order. --ItsWalky 15:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ooh, I thought we could place the Japanese name(if exist) in the first 'cause the Jp name is much commonly seen. As for the other foreign names, well, I think I probably messed in some way. Thanks for notice. :D --TX55 16:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Sideswipe
[edit]I put a delete tag on the Sideswipe photo you uploaded (It's actually from Transformers.com) because, well, its just a repainted Sunstreaker prototype, not Sideswipe. Its best not to use photos (even official photos) when things are so obviously wrong. --FFN 11:56, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oh wait, you didn't know. The 'Sideswipe' in the official Hasbro photos is simply a Sunstreaker they repainted. They displayed the real Sideswipe prototype at BotCon. He has a new head and hands. --FFN 11:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand. :) And thank you for the correct information. ;D (Thank God Sideswipe really gets a new head.) --TX55 12:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- In case you haven't seen it, this is Sideswipe's real head. --FFN 14:38, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, Thanks again. Appreciate t that. ^_^ --TX55 15:08, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Unnecessary Categories
[edit]Alright what categories are unnecessary by your definition. What i see is articles lacking the proper characters. Such as G1 characters who dont list G1 characters in their categories, characters who are decepticon/autobot and are not on the autobot/decepticon categories. So plz inform me what it is you want, im trying to bring some order to these incomplete articles.
Master Sword/Blade
[edit]Do you have an image of the Master Sword to use? The text specified that the image you removed was actually the Master Blade. --Sntint 15:51, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- No, I don't owned one by far, but I am trying to find one ASAP. :-D --TX55TALK 16:35, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Nexus Zero
[edit]So, like... a year ago, you posted some information to Talk:Nexus Zero about how it and Nexus Earth were part of an interstellar transit network, the Earth nexus was destroyed along with the Metal Hunter, and so on. Someone else immediately incorporated it into the article, and it's never been questioned, but I can't find any evidence for it. You storylinked Other Victories, but the only relevant part of that episode I know of is the Vok conversation in the very beginning, which only supports the idea that Nexus Earth was "closed," and none of the rest. So I excised all the questionable stuff from the article, but I'd like to know if I was wrong in doing so. Am I forgetting some part of the episode, or does the info come from somewhere else entirely? - Jackpot 20:42, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Repowers has answered in the article's talk page. :D As for the source, the words in the talk page is directly translated from the Beast Wars Universe. --TX55TALK 22:56, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Is this translation online somewhere? Or did you translate it yourself, from your own copy? The only online translation I can find is the DiTillio bit, which doesn't contain that passage. - Jackpot 23:59, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- I translated it by myself from the real book. The text file and the passage I translated belongs to two different sections. :) --TX55TALK 03:25, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, okay, good to know. Which section did it come from? I ask because at least one portion of the book (the DiTillio info) is not considered canon here, so I want to be sure exactly where this information is coming from before incorporating it back into the article. - Jackpot 05:28, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- It comes from the glossary section along with the minor characters and other in-show elements within the Character Information section. It is canonical, well, at least not been retconned yet by far. ;-) --TX55TALK 05:41, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome, thanks! - Jackpot 06:14, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Nicknames
[edit]TX, the nickname sections at the beginning of articles are not for nicknames taken from within stories. They are for nicknames given in the early Transformers Universe profiles printed in Transformers Comic Magazine - see here for example. That's why I removed Ramjet and Cliffjumper's nicknames before, and added expository notes to all the others explaining them. --Monzo 13:52, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I understand now. I thought previously the definition includes both TFU and in-story. Thank you! ;-D --TX55TALK 13:57, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Visualworks
[edit]OK TX55, we've reverted each other twice now. I have Visualworks, and I have every TV Magazine from October 1985 to February 1996. The statement "Note that the book features most— meaning not all—of the artwork from the TV Magazine, Comic Bom Bom, LD covers and other sources" is factually inaccurate. I'd say that the visualworks has less than half of the artwork from TV Magazine. I can post a ton of examples if you want. Is there any coherent reason why we should have a statement in this wiki that's demonstrably incorrect? Why not just go with my version, which substitutes "Studio OX" for "TV Magazine"? --Jimsorenson 17:47, 3 September 2008 (UTC) (duplicating from the talk there)
- The "Note that the book features...other sources" means the source of those artworks includes TV Magazine, Comic Bom Bom, LD covers, and several other sources. In my opinion, if we just use "Studio OX, Comic Bom Bom, LD covers", that would omit Ban Magami's work, since the art from TV Magazine contains the works of Studio OX and Ban Magami's illustrations. Also, Studio OX's work appears not only in TV Magazine but also in Comic Bom Bom. --TX55TALK 22:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- You're not saying what you mean to say. Saying that the book contains most of the artwork from TV Magazine means just that - it contains more than half of the artwork from TV Magazine. Since that's demonstrably false, we can't say that. I'm taking another stab at rewriting this to meet your objections in a way that is accurate. --Jimsorenson 22:53, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Crosslinking the Wikis
[edit]Do you recall the paragraph on Teletraan's Community Portal that sannse wouldn't let me keep? Now that you've been made an admin there, I'd be happy if you could do something similar (easiest thing would be to revert sannse, but that might not be entirely diplomatic) to let users know about the exodus. You'd also be in a good position to negotiate the reciprocal links that Derik suggested. Greetings to all Wikia staff reading this anonymously! :)--◄mendel► 06:53, 30 October 2008 (EDT)
- Yes, I remember. (As a matter of fact, a similar thing just crossed my mind when I was on my way home today.)
- For the notice about the exodus, I think I just revert it because we really need to let users know about the exodus.
- By the way, some thing reminds me that sannse banned Derik and Deceptiran the Bot. I think he should be unblocked, because, after reading several page I still nothing special (though I saw things talking about time bomb).
- Well, I hope there won't be any message about these left on my wikia talk page, because I don't know how to explain. Ha ha. --TX55TALK 08:30, 30 October 2008 (EDT)
- Derik hasn't asked to be unblocked. That should tell you something... --◄mendel► 03:18, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
Swiping articles for TF Wikia
[edit]I know that you're an Admin at TF Wikia. And I know that whatever we write here is fair game for anybody anywhere on the internet to copy and paste. But as a regular contributer here, I expect better from you. If you had helped translate all the titles for the Galaxy Force (manga) article then I could understand why you'd feel obliged to copy and paste it over at TF Wikia [here http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Galaxy_Force_%28manga%29]. But you didn't. Lonegamer and myself did all that work. What I'm saying is, while there's nothing of legal consequence keeping you from copying articles we've written here and pasting them at TF Wikia, I find it in very poor form. If it's an article you wrote yourself, then fine. But as far as I'm concerned, they're the competition and I did not translate all those titles and write that article for them. Thank you. --DrSpengler 12:46, 3 December 2008 (EST)
- Sorry for replying late. I can’t access tfwiki.net in the office due to the blocking.
- First of all, I would like to apologize sincerely for my impolite act of copy/paste of the article. At that time (months ago), I was writing a page about Yoshihiro Iwamoto. I think it would be a little weird with no page of his work in the database, so I duplicated the article – without any considering out of careless. I've deleted the whole article (since simply copy/paste is ..."not good") and rewrote it. I’m truly sorry for my behavior. Thanks for notifying me about this. :-)
- (I seldom write apology in English. Please pardon me if there are some weird or misused words/sentences.) --TX55TALK 07:40, 4 December 2008 (EST)
- It's cool, man. I appreciate it. --DrSpengler 11:53, 4 December 2008 (EST)
Transformer (manga)
[edit]What is the [[Transformer (manga)]] you added to the Manga page, before Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers (manga)? Is it the Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers Prologue which was published a year before, in 1985? That red link's been bugging me and I'd like to know more about it. --DrSpengler 17:52, 15 January 2009 (EST)
- Oh, it is a manga special on Comic Bom Bom (so its title is quoted by mark), drawn by Yoshihiro Moritō (森藤よしひろ). ;-D But... this is the only info I know so far. ^^; --TX55TALK 08:50, 16 January 2009 (EST)
- Er, that Japanese text reads "Fumio (or Ikuo) Miyazoe", not even close to "Yoshihiro Moritō". If Moritō is a pen name, it still seems kind of pointless to provide the guy's real name only in Japanese. That aside, could you possibly provide a source for your info on that special, minimal though it is?--Apcog 10:13, 16 January 2009 (EST)
- OOPS, I paste the wrong kanji and I am totally unaware of it. Thanks for noticing. Ikuo Miyazoe is for this.
- It was published within the Comic Bom Bom Spring Extra Issue in 1986. As for the source, from Japanese Wikipedia[1] and several Japanese forum I used to hang around (which I can't find any remain of the threads). --TX55TALK 10:43, 16 January 2009 (EST)
- Duuuuuuude, I think I got it, now. You're talking about Full Throttle Scramble Power! It was done by the same guy (though I misread his name as "Morimoto") and published in the same year. I had heard from sources that it was a mail-away offer from TV Magazine but was never able to confirm that. Obviously, that info was incorrect. --DrSpengler 11:17, 16 January 2009 (EST)

Your Archive Links
[edit]IIRC, I think our unofficial policy is that we use the external link method to link to anything Wikia, so the "nofollow" is turned on for Google juice purposes. We only use the wikia: style for sites like Wookieepedia that we're affiliated with (since they're nice enough to link back to us). --Jeysie 10:23, 17 January 2010 (EST)
- Oh, I just link those pages to my old files back in wikia since I'd not like to occupy/waste too much space of TFwiki but in the same time I can check the old files directly from here or instead of going to wikia first then find my old files (since I spend much more time here than wikia). Hope this is okay. :) --TX55TALK 20:16, 17 January 2010 (EST)
- It's not the linking that's the problem (since we do have some non-Star Wars Wikia links here and there), it's using the link method that's giving Google juice to a competitor that's not giving us links back (the interwiki style), instead of using the method that doesn't (the external link style). --Jeysie 21:00, 17 January 2010 (EST)
- Oops. I didn't mean you had to get rid of the links completely, I just meant to use the [http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/User:TX55/Sandbags_4 File 4] method to link them, that's all. --Jeysie 21:31, 17 January 2010 (EST)

What do you know about the Mystery of Convoy manga?
[edit]I think that you were the first one to bring the existence of the Famicon How-To Manga: Transformers: Mystery of Convoy to light. I'm on a quest to get those las two red links off of the Manga article, so I was wondering if you had any additional info about the thing. McFeely uploaded a scan of the pages reprinted in Tansformers Visualworks HERE. As you can see, it only prints selected stages, making it seem like they aren't collecting the entire manga. However, the stages selected are all the boss battles, which makes me think that maybe the manga didn't cover ALL the stages, but just the ones with boss battles. Since there's no furigana, I'm gonna have to break out my kanji fastfinder when I get home and work on deciphering the text. But I just wanted to know if you had any insight on the book besides what we've already got? --DrSpengler 16:07, 19 September 2010 (EDT)
- As far as I know and recall, the comic featured in Transformers Visualworks is different from "How-to".
- The comic featured in Visualworks is from the 12th Comic Bom Bom Special: Family Computer Hisshō Dōjō and drawn by Akira Tanizaki (谷崎あきら), while the other one is a series called Famicon How-to Manga (totally six issues) featured in the Comic Bom Bom and drawn by Ikuo Miyazoe (みやぞえ郁雄).
- I can't recall if I've read the How-to because my memory is very blur. The reason I remember the author's name is because I found it on Japanese Wikipedia years before I add the information here. :D --TX55TALK 22:07, 19 September 2010 (EDT)
- Welllllll crap. I just made the "How-to" stub using info from the reprints in Visualworks. Nertz. --DrSpengler 22:38, 19 September 2010 (EDT)
Copyright on book covers
[edit]I'm more for keeping Hasbro and Takara (or TakaraTomy after 2005) with the publishing companies in the "© *insert year*" line. What's the reason on removing them? --Lonegamer78 00:30, 20 September 2010 (EDT)
- Oh, I thought it was about only the publisher, so I only type the publisher in the copyright information.
- Now I move the publisher to front since it is the one who published the book. --TX55TALK 00:54, 20 September 2010 (EDT)
- The reason why I added Has/Tak is because they're the license holders, and you see their names in the copyright info in a variety of materials. --Lonegamer78 01:04, 20 September 2010 (EDT)

- I'm sorry, I don't understand what you meant. Were you saying you want to put this on some pace of TFwiki? If so, I don't think this can work out. First, there is no articles like "Fan mode", second, TFwiki has no functions for video uploading, IIRC. :) --TX55TALK 19:15, 23 December 2010 (EST)
- Well thanks, i get it now --190.206.235.200 16:17, 27 December 2010 (EST)
Power Up Prime
[edit]hey man, i have one question, was the ROTF Voyager Power Up Prime cancelled, or is it still on hold, because on Jetfire's page it says its not been released, yet in the Optimus Prime page it says it was cancelled
--186.89.185.50 23:44, 25 February 2011 (EST)
- Then i guess you should put cancelled on Jetfire's page, cause it says not yet released
--Metroplex 20:10, 26 February 2011 (EST)
- Or YOU could. Why make TX55 do your bidding? -- Semysane 22:58, 26 February 2011 (EST)
Beast Wars Neo: Prologue title
[edit]Where did the title for Beast Wars Neo: Prologue come from? The closest thing I can find in the collected editions is 'ビーストウォーズ "ネオ" 開戦!!!' —Interrobang 08:52, 22 September 2011 (EDT)
- It wasn't put in the page by me, I created the page via the red link. original page I've forgot the original title until just now. Thanks for the information. :D
- By the way, is there any furigana for "開戦" (just like "Matrix" for "魂")? --TX55TALK 09:33, 22 September 2011 (EDT)
- Ah, thank you for the clarification. The furigana is native Japanese: Kaisen. —Interrobang 09:46, 22 September 2011 (EDT)
New books
[edit]Hey, TX55! I bought new Japanese TF books at BotCon.
http://obscuretf.com/photos/JTFBooks08.jpg
Would you be able to tell me the titles? --Monzo 12:06, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
- No problem!
- (From left to right; from up to down)
- Color Catalog: Transformer Grand Encyclopedia
- Get the Super Secret vol 5: Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformer Grand Encyclopedia
- Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformer vol. 1
- Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformer vol. 2
- Get the Super Secret vol 16(?): Beast Wars II Grand Encyclopedia
- Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformers Super Illustrated Reference Book
- TV Magazine Card Book no.9: Beast Wars: Super Lifeform Transformer Grand Encyclopedia
- Notes:
- A. "大百科" can be translated into "Grand Encyclopedia" (which is probably much more suitable) or "Great Encyclopedia".
- B. #3 & #4 are "Anime comics", whose comic panel are screencapture from cartoon/anime instead of drawing.
- C. On the cover of #6, it says the book contains all of the BWII warriors' data and full introduction for original CG.
- Ah, thank you! The Beast Wars II Grand Encyclopedia is vol 10, by the way. Sorry for the small photo.
- What about the title of the Car Robots book? --Monzo 13:13, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
- That's okay, the quality of the photo is good enough for me to recognize most of the small words! Thanks for the volume number. :D
- Oop, guess I missed one when enlarging the image.
- It is "Keibunshya's Grand Encyclopedia Extra Issue: Transformer: Car Robot Grand Encyclopedia". Also, this book is on my shelf, so if you have any question, you can tell me the page number and I'll see what can I do. ;-D --TX55TALK 13:54, 8 October 2011 (EDT)
Cancelled TakaraTomy raffle
[edit]These images surfaced back in April. They appear to be for a raffle that never took place, like the one for Animated Activators Skywarp.
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/3/31/TakaraTomyDOTM2011RafflePrizes.jpg
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/a/a4/BlackJetwingOptimusPrimeJapan.jpg
What can you read from these images? This AllSpark news post says that Human Alliance Bumblebee was supposed to be clear, Cyberverse Ironhide was supposed to be green, and Cyberverse Optimus Prime was supposed to be clear, but the toy images do not look different... do the other toys have titles listed? Any help would be appreciated! --Monzo 02:02, 14 December 2011 (EST)
- Um, the image is fuzzy, so I can only tell the following information from the image:
"Bumblebee Prize" Bumblebee Clear Version "Optimus Prime Prize" Jet Wing Optimus Prime Black Version "Ironhide Prize" (Cyberverse) Ironhide ??? Version -> The words are too fuzzy to tell what the toy is called "Last One Prize" (Cyberverse) Optimus Prime Clear Version "Clear File Prize" 9 type and each set including three. "Tumbler(?) Prize" 2 type "Mouse Pad" 2 type "Strap Prize" 2 type
- While the information from [2] have nothing special about the figure, only the spec, which is as same as the original toy, such as "With Sound gimmick", "Removable wing and Vulcan".
- Hope this will help. :D --TX55TALK 09:43, 14 December 2011 (EST)
- Thank you for the translation! A "tumbler" is a type of drinking glass, so those were like the small prizes for the Animated raffle.
First Transformers

It will bring you (or children) to the dream world via objects around us. They will transform into dream robots from those objects which are loved by the children, such as an airplane or a car. By using hands, perhaps children's imagination will have a heart that strongly loves the justice.
I am Jet kun, a morphing<!--though they are "Transformers", "morphing" is much fitter for へんしん than "transforming"--> airplane. I usually patrol the space. If there is any bad guy or bully, I'll transform into a robot and defeat them. I wish to be your friend.

This is the first transforming Transformer hero<!--or heroic Transformer?-->. By playing the toy, you can raise children with happiness via imagination and a justice-loving heart.
- With regards to "dream robots" in the translations, is that "yume no"? We translated that as "fantastic" for the title of "Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime". Also, in English, "outer space" does not typically have a "the" before it (re "the space"). --Monzo 10:51, 18 January 2012 (EST)
TakaraTomy Twitter?
[edit]TX, the Takara TF twitter retweeted the first four images from this account. Would you have time to see what they are? http://twitpic.com/photos/TFYUKI --Monzo 22:57, 18 February 2012 (EST)
- They are the script for the Japanese dub of "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1". The second is a proposal about adding narration into the intro sequence; the third states the narration is only made for the Japanese dub; the fourth image is about the synopsis. :D --TX55TALK 12:11, 19 February 2012 (EST)

You have received multiple notes there pertaining to poorly named images with no descriptions, as well as a reminder to double check your spelling and grammar, AND a note not to add pictures to pages where they aren't needed. Also, your question about the Leadfoot page was just made earlier this morning, it's hardly been long enough for you to get so upset about. --Khajidha 13:03, 12 March 2012 (EDT)

Chinese MMO?
[edit]TX, I was wondering... there's an official page for the Chinese TF MMO that's coming out, and I was wondering about some specifics. Like, are these female robots characters, or body-types?
http://tf.91.com/zt/2011/new_image/ldzy.shtml
There's some more here, too.
http://mobile.91.com/pic/tag/%E5%8F%98%E5%BD%A2%E9%87%91%E5%88%9A%E5%9C%A8%E7%BA%BF/7377_1_0
I thought I remembered you also being able to read Chinese; if I am mistaken, my apologies. --Monzo 16:37, 15 March 2012 (EDT)
- Yes, I can read Chinese (mainly in Traditional Chinese, but I'm able to recognize some Simple Chinese). Those are female Transformers instead of body-type.
- From top to bottom, they are:
- Name - Vehicle mode
- Cold Flame in the Star Morning - Scorpion (or Heaven Scorpion)
- Drifting Lightening - Mountain Cloud and Mist
- Chaos Malignant Star - Crystal
- Blackhole Pulse (Blackhole Impulse) - Iris (or Kite tail)
- Flash Mad Runner - Net
- Star Burst Flame Stream - Shooting Star
- Aurora Rusher (Aurora Speeder) - Nymphalid
- Night Dancer - Nāga
- Cyclone Dancer - Cyclone
- Red Flame Phantom - "Farty"
(WTH is that?) - Heaven Baleful Phantom - Falcon
- Light Collecting Star Edge - Praying mantis
- Star Liking Spiral - Water tornado
- Thunder Iron Wing - Lightening
- Cyclone Hunter - Sac-winged bat
- Nebula Ripper - Limacodidae
(or Slug) - Wing of Disaster - Swallowtail butterfly
- Dark Variable - Female monster
- Wait, they're... they're CHARACTERS? T-that means we have to document them! Oh, god... I just realized I only linked you to the Female Decepticons page! There's THREE MORE PAGES WORTH OF CHARACTERS!
Male Autobots: http://tf.91.com/zt/2011/new_image/cnwd.shtml

- They seem to be bios, yeah. Here're the (poor) Google translations of them.
- I don't know if there's a better automatic English/Chinese translator out there; with English/Japanese, Babelfish, Google and Infoseek Japan all use slightly different algorithms, so sometimes you get better translations from one to the other... --Monzo 01:21, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
- I'm a Taiwanese, so it is not a problem for me to do the En/Ch translation — except for 1) the link to website in China is very slow in my country
2) the Simplified Chinese text, which makes the thing difficult (because I need to translate them into Traditional Chinese first in my head). I don't why my browser can't convert the CHT and CHS.--TX55TALK 08:01, 16 March 2012 (EDT)

- wow, the babel fish translations are already something impressive here, can't wait for them to become comprehensible.--76.28.76.206 09:59, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
Okay, this is the very unfinished translation! (Only most of the [cnwd.shtml]) ;-D I've used the wiki code such as ''Pronunciation'' or '''Name''' within the text, so we can copy and paste it (the English part) directly to the wiki. (I'm not sure when I can complete it since I'm very busy recently.) Hope it is okay for usage. ;) --TX55TALK 11:37, 16 March 2012 (EDT)

Transliteration variances?
[edit]TX, I was comparing your and Meister's write-ups on the Chinese names, and I was wondering about some differences...
- Yīnsù Yóuxía vs Yīnsù Yóuxiá
- Tǐe Yì Fēi Jìan vs Tiě Yì Fēi Jiàn
- Nùhǔo Shǎndìan vs Nùhuǒ Shǎndiàn
Etc. Mostly it's in the placement of diacritical marks, except for you having Fēngbàu Zhàngē and him having Fēngbào Zhàngē (EDIT: and you having Chòng Jǐa Sīanfōng and him having Zhòng Jiǎ Xiānfēng). Is it because you're using different translation systems, or that he's in Malaysia and you're in Taiwan, or...? I don't know anything about translating Chinese, so I'm just curious.
Also, could you comment on some of the changes I made? When I looked up "chāonéng" (超能) for Chāonéng Jīanbīng and Chāonéng Yóujíshǒu, I saw that it was "super, ultra, incredible" rather than "psychic", which my searches told me was "chāonéng lì" (well, chāo néng lì). Was that right? I also changed Zhòng Chúi Tǐe Wèi to "Heavy Hammer Iron Guard" from "Heavy Hummer Iron Guard"; wikipedia, at least, says that Chúi is a traditional type of hammer weapon. --Monzo 15:39, 18 March 2012 (EDT)
- I've bold the recommend usage for you in your text. (It's possibly he uses a better dictionary. My dictionary doesn't provide macron, so I have to figure out myself.) And it is "Xiānfēng" (this is my mistake). :D
- "chāonéng" (超能) is usually a shorter version of "超能力", literally means "super ability" or "ultra ability", and is also used for "psychic" in Mandarin.
- While it is "Hammer" for "槌/錘", not "Hummer", which is "嗡嗡" (wēng wēng). (Oops, my typo. Thanks for notice!) --TX55TALK 21:49, 18 March 2012 (EDT)

Mandarin transliteration
[edit]Please stop adding whatever alternate transliteration system you're using if the name already has a Pinyin transliteration. The majority of the world uses Pinyin, and that's what should be used if the name isn't exclusively from Taiwan. We're not a linguistics wiki, and people can go and find alternate transliterations themselves if they don't like Pinyin. Saix (talk) 12:21, 5 November 2015 (EST)
- Just so I don't sound like I resent you, I do appreciate your added names and translation clarifications. Saix (talk) 12:35, 5 November 2015 (EST)
- Cheers, I know you did not resent me.
- And some of the characters I use two system for one name because same word can possesses different sound. For example, 蜂 for Bumblebee is different: Fong in Taiwan while Feng in China. (Not to mention some words have Traditional and simplified versions.) It's not just different spelling system, sometimes even pronunciation, much like any other language, such as "Either". --TX55TALK 23:26, 5 November 2015 (EST)
Saix and I decided some time ago with no opposition that Taiwanese Mandarin transliterations would be done on this site in hanyu pinyin. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 02:38, 1 August 2018 (EDT)
- Thanks for the notification. :D
- Is there any discussion within the community? No offence but I just want to note that there is still difference regarding on Mandarin in Taiwan and China and we Taiwanese would like to be respected and more importantly, as I mentioned above in the previous section, there are still pronunciation difference in both Mandarins. --TX55TALK 04:12, 2 August 2018 (EDT)
- To give you more information, Saix and I were the only ones who discussed it because we are, with no exaggeration, the only two regular users with any experience or interest in Mandarin. Thus no one chimed in to oppose. And I came to the conclusion of using hanyu pinyin even when I myself am of Taiwanese ancestry. If my word isn't good enough for you, consider that I alone essentially maintain the "Taiwan" page on this wiki. From what I see, the most helpful way to illustrate basic Mandarin pronunciation is to use hanyu pinyin romanization. As Saix points out, we are not a linguistics wiki; for example if someone wanted to understand the pronunciation of New Zealand English, they can do that on their own time. I point out that even the Taiwanese central government uses pinyin as a standard these days. It is that intuitive. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 16:52, 16 September 2018 (EDT)
