The Masterforce War (マスターフォース戦争 Masterforce Sensō),[1] also known as the Devil War (デビルウォー),[2] is the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons focusing on the Godmasters and Devil Z's attempts at harnessing their power to conquer the universe. The war spans a period between the re-awakening of the Decepticon Pretenders and the defeat of Devil Z.

[edit]- The year of the Masterforce War was never established in contemporary media, only known to be after The Headmasters in 2011 and before Victory in 2025. Decades after the fact, a Generations Selects comic story by continuity aficionado Hayato Sakamoto laid down that the Masterforce anime took place in 2020.
- The Victory manga (set in 2025 in a splinter continuity) also seems to favor a later date; when several humans from the Masterforce series join the Victory cast they are still roughly the same age they had been when last seen in Masterforce.
