Overview

[edit]
At last—the secret history of the Transformers is finally revealed, through the multigenerational saga of the clandestine spy group code-named SECTOR 7. Events in this series tie directly into all of the massive hit Transformers movies, but trust us when we say—there has never been a movie-tie in comic like this before!

Sector 7 follows the Simmons lineage down through the years, beginning with Walter Simmons in 1898, the discovery of the frozen Megatron and the founding of the organization that will become Sector Seven. Simmons is consumed by the alien wonders that Megatron—and later the AllSpark—present, slipping into a self-destructive decline that initially pushes his family away, only to slowly, inevitably, draw them back into an all-consuming obsession that defines the Simmons legacy through to the present day. The only hope for breaking the cycle lies with Jetfire, wandering the Earth after his abandonment by The Fallen, whose path continuously finds itself intersecting with that of Simmons and his descendants.

The series pays particular attention to the fragmented continuity of the live-action movie continuity family, doing its best to forge connections with disparate pieces of fiction (including the films themselves, IDW's own comics, and surprisingly, the Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday prequel novel), as well as to address and smooth over any obvious continuity errors. Real-world history is also folded in where appropriate, including events such as the Spanish-American War, the Boxer Rebellion, and World War II, and the lives of historical figures like Herbert and Lou Hoover, and Bonnie and Clyde. Every issue features a page of notes by the author to highlight and further explain in detail both the Transformers continuity and real-world references.
