A jammer is a device resembling a ballpoint pen that emits a wave of some sort at a frequency that blocks a Transformer's transformation ability as well as their ability to take action on their own, but can still be driven as cars. Ordinarily a jammer can only affect one Transformer, but when modified with a frequency splitter, it can work on up to two. Further alterations allow the user to control the Transformer by remote.
A counter device called an anti-jammer is able to nullify the effects of all jammers within range.

Now known collectively as the Roadjammers, these human operatives quickly set about subduing and capturing the Autobots Sizzle, Fizzle, and Backstreet.
Suspecting that the Z Foundation's Mr. K, Mr. L, and Mr. B might be in league with the Decepticons, Felix, the brains of the Roadjammers, modified the jammers by doubling their strength. Sure enough, he was soon forced to disable Squeezeplay, Horri-Bull, and Fangry too, earning the wrath of Mr. Z and his Headmaster partner Scorponok. Fortunately Felix had one more trick up his sleeve—the ability to remote-control the "jammed" Transformers and use them as weapons against the Decepticon leader, forcing him to deploy his prototype anti-jammer.
