Bumblebee (SG Animated)

Bumblebee is an evil Autobot from the Shattered Glass Animated continuity family.

Courageous. Talkative. Yellow and appealing to children. None of these words describe Bumblebee. This little creep hides in the shadows while the rest of Optimus Prime's team goes into battle, waiting to pick off or scavenge from anything left twitching in the aftermath. He'd be a vicious backstabber if he weren't such a coward, and when he deigns to open his mouth, you're more likely to hear an oil-curdling cackle than a coherent response.

Fiction

Shattered Glass Animated

Bumblebee was part of Optimus Prime's crew of renegades, serving as a spy and scavenger due to his small size and hiding cowardly from their battles. When Prime led his team to locate the AllSpark, they found that Megatron had gotten to it first. The ensuing skirmish saw both teams crash land on Earth. A young Isaac Sumdac found Prime's disembodied head, subsequently using it to establish a military empire and technocracy over Detroit. As an adult, Sumdac managed to revive the Autobots, and fitted them with control collars to serve as his enforcers. Each of the Autobots vowed revenge. The 'Cons Their mutual hatred for Sumdac even had Bumblebee put aside his own traitorous plans against Prime. Transformers I.Q. 16

Bumblebee was the only Autobot that Sari Sumdac could tolerate, considering him too cowardly to ever turn on her. She liked him better with his mouth shut though, since his giggles gave her the creeps. On at least one occasion, she doodled his head with a skull face and swords sticking out of his eyes.

Bumblebee and the other four Autobots were captured by HYBRID and trapped in Soundwave's VR world, where they were subjected to videos of a purple technorganic dinosaur singing friendship songs in an attempt to turn them into goody-goods. Notes

• Bumblebee's coloration is based on BotCon 2007's Bug Bite toy. Subsequent versions of Bug Bite would also draw on the same color scheme, as would the original Shattered Glass Bumblebee seen in IDW's comics.
• "AlbinoBumbleBee" is another white Bumblebee lookalike seen in Animated ancillary media.
