Earl Kress (August 22, 1951 – September 19, 2011) was an American writer. In addition to The Transformers, he also wrote episodes of Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain (both of which netted him a Daytime Emmy), Road Rovers, and Kim Possible. He was also one of the scriptwriters on The Fox and the Hound.
In 2011, Kress passed away at age 60 after a battle with cancer. His final works were the animated films Tom & Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes, released in 2010, and Tom & Jerry in the Wonderful World of Oz, which was released shortly before his death.
