'''Vertebreak''' is one of the Predacons subjected to hyper-evolution by [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]. He is simply content to destroy the [[Autobot]]s and anyone else allied with them. The name or term "Vertebreak" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Vertebreak (disambiguation).
Vertebreak is a Predacon from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.
Crouching Hidden Tiger-Dragon.

The Predacons were never an intelligent lot, but Vertebreak takes his bestial nature to extremes—the dragon barely utters a word and prefers to stay in beast mode. He has also taken to following his creator, Shockwave, around like a rusthound. While Shockwave finds the loyalty somewhat endearing, Vertebreak's incessant attention is making him consider cloning some turbofoxes to distract the simple beast.

Have we mentioned that his name is freaking awesome?

  • Vertebreak (Deluxe Class, 2013)
    • Series / Number: 2 / 014
    • Accessories: Hyena Cannon, missile, tail/whip
Part of the fourth wave of Prime: Beast Hunters Deluxe Class toys, Vertebreak is a redeco of Lazerback, and transforms into a drake with an opening jaw. His tail detaches to become a whip that is held by his hands via 5 mm post. His dragon back hinges over his head in robot mode to become the "Hyena Cannon", a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a single, double-pronged missile. The launcher itself is attached to a peg-hole on his back, and can be detached for use as a hand-held weapon.
His instructions include the twenty-first chapter of the Tales of the Beast Hunters series. This toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Vertebreak, and this mold was also retooled into Go! Gaidora.

Notes

[edit]
If you are green, you're not fit to be seen?
  • According to Hasbro's Beast Hunters marketing book, Vertebreak was Predacon experiment #SW26673.
  • Released in select locations near the beginning of the line, the Transformers: Prime - Beast Hunters Guide Book depicted what appeared to be a redeco/retool of Lazerback named "Scourge", with a new beast head and a green color scheme. This led to some confusion when the second use of that mold was subsequently revealed as being "Vertebreak", a straight redeco in yellow and orange. The situation was cleared up somewhat when the official Transformers Facebook page republished the Guide Book and changed the name "Scourge" to "Vertebreak", suggesting the green retool was a preliminary idea later supplanted by Vertebreak.
