Blip

Blip is a Decepticon from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Why can't we just take something that people already love, and translate it to the big screen without all these unnecessary changes?!

Blip is the Dark Assassin, Devourer of Souls, and Propagator of Infinite Sin. Or so he likes to think. In reality, he shares the same body type as Blot, and is sometimes mistaken for him.

Blip claimed to be a Sparkeater and endowed himself with grandiose titles. Ultra Magnus was unconvinced of his claims and arrested him. The Chaos of Warm Things

Later, after the end of the Autobot-Decepticon war, Blip was a member of Hun-Gar's crew when it joined up with Snap Trap's forces. In order to procure energon, the combined forces invaded Sensensica, the capital city of the planet Temptoria, and began using "pink alchemy" to convert the tissue of its inhabitants into fuel.

When the Autobot crew of the Lost Light initiated an attack to liberate the city, Blip was called to the control room of the pink alchemy facility, "the Battery", by Nautilator, who had spotted the assault group dropping from their ship on the monitors. In the battle that followed, the two Decepticons ended up in a confrontation with Whirl and Cyclonus, and Blip was felled by a blow to the neck from the latter. Before & After

Blip was imprisoned on board the Lost Light and brought back to Cybertron, where he and the other prisoners broke out and attempted to rescue Megatron from his trial. Unfortunately Megatron was unwilling to leave and the Decepticons found themselves defeated again, with Blip himself getting beaten down by Optimus Prime. Predestination: A Beginner's Guide

It seems Blip somehow managed to escape recapture and made it off planet to another part of the galaxy. Unfortunately for Blip, the Decepticon Justice Division had his name on The List due to his "religious beliefs" (i.e. claiming to be a Sparkeater), and even though he tried to hide by changing bodies they soon arrived to painfully end his life. Their various torture methods used included Helex removing his brain module and placing it in his mouth while he was still alive. Blip's final act was requesting Tarn to remove his mask, calling him a coward. As a result, Tarn chose not to talk him to death, instead letting Helex and Tesarus have their fun and rip poor Blip to pieces. The Permanent Revolution

Notes

• Writer James Roberts appears to have named Blip after the pseudonym used by Transformers fan John Moore, who had a letter, featuring this alias, published in issue #311 of the Marvel UK comic. Off the back of this letter and the responses it got, Moore co-founded the Transmasters UK fan group, which Roberts soon became a member of.
• John Barber referred to Blip as Blot's brother on his Twitter.
