Pincer

This article is about the appendage/weapons some Transformers have. For the Autobot Pretender, see Pincher (G1).

Pincers are either weapons, designed for grabbing, crushing or cutting, or they are a Transformer's "hands." They are not necessarily handheld or arm-mounted, either. Not to be confused with claws, which are sharp blades made for slicing or slashing and are arm-mounted or built into a Transformer's fingers.

Fiction

Generation 1

• Unicron's planet mode has a pair of large pincers to grab planets while he eats them.
• Scorponok has giant pincers for hands.
• Octopunch has pincers in crab mode.
• The appropriately-named Pincher has pincers in scorpion mode. In the IDW comics, he has them in robot mode.

Beast Wars

Pincers were popular melee weapons during the Beast Wars.

• Cybershark's beast mode tail converts into a pincer weapon.
• Prowl's tail becomes some sort of strange pincer weapon.
• Powerpinch's beast mode pincer converts into a hand held pinching weapon, or can alternatively mounted in his midsection in robot mode.
• Razorclaw's beast mode pincers convert into his arms in robot mode, his left pincer contains a blaster and the right pincer contains three blades.
• Retrax's beast mode mandibles convert into a pincer weapon in robot mode.
• Transquito's battle mode has a set of large pincers.
• Sea Clamp's pincers contains a pair of blades, for even better crushing/pinching/slashing action!
• The Arachnid's base mode has an attachable pincher, perhaps to be used for construction, or to grab that pesky Razorbeast.
• Megatron's beast mode tail converts into a pincer weapon in robot mode in all of his robot modes throughout the Beast Wars, though they were infrequently used in his fictional appearances. In his first body sporting a Tyrannosaurus's hide, his tail converted in a pincer weapon, though he preferred using his beast mode's mouth to crush and grab his victims. In his Transmetal body, his tail-end pincer is seemingly accessible in any mode, it was only seen being used once while in flight mode, while his hand-held weapon was most frequently used as blaster while in robot mode. His Transmetal 2 body similarly had a tail-end pincer, though it possessed a third "claw," and was portrayed as being used for grappling.
• Air Hammer's shark mouth converts into a pincer weapon and a blaster in robot mode.
• Vice Grip, a repaint of Powerpinch is armed with the same pinching weapon.
• Sky Shadow's rear dragonfly wings convert into an enormous pincer weapon.
• Stinkbomb's tail ends in a claw/pincer/whip weapon
• Ramulus's beast mode horns convert into a massive pincer weapon and Slagmaker Cannon.
• Scorponok, due to his choice of beast mode, sports a pair of pincers in both his original and transmetal body.
• Insecticon's stag beetle alt mode possesses pincers.
• Blackarachnia's original body did not have hands, instead she had large pincers starting from her elbow. She still managed to be able to type on a computer. Her Transmetal 2 body's grappling hook utilized her beast mode mandibles as a pincer weapon.
• Beetle's beast mode possesses a set of organic pincers.
• Double Punch, a redeco of Scorponok also has pincers.
• Although sporting the misnomer of "Terror Claws," Rampage sports of couple of terrifyingly huge pincers due to his beast mode.
• Alongside the other Predacons who transform into stag beetles, Scarem's beast mode has a set of vicious-looking pincers.
• Though he has been described in fiction as possessing hands, Sandstorm, another redeco of Scorponok, is most often depicted with pincers in both robot and beast mode.
• Shokaract, a redeco of Rampage, has a couple of pincers, in both his cybertronian body and beast-era variation.
• Poison Bite, the mutant transformer has a scorpion mode has a couple of organic pincers.

Beast Wars II

• Lio Junior, a redeco of Prowl, is armed with the same weapon.
• Scissor Boy, a redeco of Powerpinch, is armed with the same weapon.
• Powerhug is a redeco of Retrax and has the same pincer weapon.
• Bigmos, a redeco as Transquito and therefore has the same battle mode pincer.
• Galvatron is armed with the "Galva-claw" a pincer weapon formed from his dragon wings.
• Max-B is armed with a pincer weapon.
• Gimlet's pincers have been nicknamed the "Hand Scissors." Gimlet Chapter

Beast Wars Neo

• Longrack's Cybertronian mode and Beast Wars Neo mode are both armed with a large extendable pincer for a right arm.
• Rockbuster is armed with the same pincer weapons as the original toy, Razorclaw.
• Sharp Edge is a retool of Cybershark and conserves the same pincer weapon.
• The Blentron Drancron is a repaint of the fuzor Skyshadow and is armed with the same pincer weapon.

Beast Machines

• Buzz Saw's new technorganic body sports a large pincer in robot mode.
• Tankor possessed pincers instead of hands, portrayed by his toy as being accessible to his vehicle mode as well. His Tank Drones, share his body template, including his pincers.
• Airraptor's beast mode head, acting as his right hand in robot mode, presumably serves as a pincer and/or blaster.
• T-Wrecks, a redeco of Megatron's original Tyrannosaurus rex body, also possesses a pincer.

Dinobots

• Sludge's sail becomes a pincer/trap.

Transformers (2007)

• Payload is armed with a large pincer that emerges from his chest.
• Dropkick is armed with a disproportionally large pincer weapon.
• Salvage is armed with the same pincer weapon as Dropkick, the original toy this character was redecoed from.

Revenge of the Fallen

• Megatron's new body is armed with his Death-lock pincer
• Blowpipe is another repaint of the Dropkick mold and is armed with the same weapon.
• One of Ben Procter's concept art studies for Overload's robot mode is a monstrous—and awesome—four-armed quadruped with claws, pincers and hooks up the ying-yang.
• Hightower's tail is a large pincer.
• Scrapmetal has large pincers instead of hands.
• Scrapper also has large pincers for hands.

Notes

• The only Transformer who has a scorpion beast mode that does not have pincers for hands in robot mode is Quickstrike.
• Although technically, the 2007 movie Scorponok does not have pincers for hands, he has drills.
