The 'bot who would one day call himself "Beetle" served under Megatron at the tail-end of the Great War. He participated in Megatron's attack on Tigatron when he approached the Decepticons to broker peace between the two factions, and in the subsequent assault on the Primal Council's base of operations. They were pushed back by Magnaboss. Afterwards, the Tripredacus Council arrived on the scene, and surrendered to the Autobots on behalf of all Decepticons, ending the war. Dawn of the Predacus

Beetle was a strange, twisted little robot. When other Predacons downsized, Beetle took it to the extreme and went micro-sized. Antisocial to his core, anything that set him apart from other Cybertronians was right up his alley. Beetle cared nothing for the Predacons, but loved the arts of torture and interrogation, and since the Maximals were unlikely to sanction his sick passions, he was willing to tolerate the larger Predacons. Beetle was the type of interrogator most to be feared: he didn't care in the least what information his victims might have, he just wanted to find the worst, most painful ways to make them share it all. Beetle was working for the Resistance at Harmonex during the Grand Uprising. When the Vehicon Apocalypse began, his unit was among the first to survive and bring actionable intelligence about the infection back to high command. Derailment

Part of the first McDonald's Beast Wars promotion, Beetle transforms into a stag beetle. His head bears a distinct likeness to the gator-body version of Megatron. His body and transformation, on the other hand, bear a resemblance to Insecticon, though he's not colored at all like either of them.
He's made of considerably softer plastic than most of the other toys even in the promo, making him nice and safe for little ones to chew on.
