After Ironhide was damaged in an explosion inside Idea & Design Works Custom Wheels, the human authorities, not knowing better, sent him to Wreck -n- Rule to be compacted. Ratchet was able to track him down and sent Hot Rod and Wheeljack to rescue him. Devastation #1 Despite some resistance from the Machination's Headmasters, the two Autobots made it to Wreck -n- Rule and explored it trying to find Ironhide. Devastation #4 They were eventually accosted by their Machination pursuers in Sunstreaker clones, and Wheeljack was incapacitated. Hot Rod found it easy to manage the "amateurs", though. Devastation #5 Hardhead arrived on the scene, killing the last Headmaster remaining, and brought Hot Rod orders to evacuate the planet.
