The Shi-Lai are an infamous alien political entity spreading forth from the world of Shi-La. Ruled by a Blood Tyrant, boasting an army of Suicide Legions armed with death-bolters, and policed by relentless interstellar hounds, the Shi-Lai are probably not among the galaxy's best neighbors.
The Shi-Lai navy is noteworthy for consisting entirely of intelligent warships—such as the Broadsword-class interceptor/destroyer—binary-bonded to their organic pilots. This bonding process is sufficiently unkind to the ship's AI as to be widely known as "slave-linking".
