The Black Pyramid was a Matrix Chamber of unknown origin, located off the coast of Japan near Metro City. The Predacons tapped a power cable to obtain the energy needed to activate the pyramid, however after the Autobots were drawn to the area, Megatron destroyed the pyramid rather than let it fall into their hands. - The origin of such a powerful power source is a mystery, though it may possibly be linked to whoever brought Fortress Maximus to Earth, as many of the keys to unlocking Maximus were also hidden in pyramid structures.
