Back

Back is a Decepticon Mini-Con from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family. He is also, confusingly enough, known as Forth.

Back is blessed with the ability to magnetically attract metal. Naturally, he puts this gift to use by battering Autobots and generally making a mess. And he can do both those things even better once you bring the magnetic repulsion powers of his fellow Cyclone Forth, into the mix.

Sometimes he likes to steal Forth's name.

All right! Who wants some?

Back and Forth were part of the group of Decepticons led by Scorponok and Glowstrike. Teamed with Quillfire, the pair accompanied their new boss into Crown City to scavenge auto supplies, and were in the process of doing so when Bumblebee and Strongarm found them in an alley. Back used his powers to pull several trash dumpsters and create a wall between them and Strongarm, and setting up Forth to use them to knock her out. The two jumped onto a trailer full of stolen goods pulled by Quillfire, making their escape. Back used his powers to yank highway signs off their supports and hurl them at the pursuing Autobots, but the two Mini-Cons were dumped from the trailer when Quillfire spilled the contents in the hopes of evading them. They were able to catch back up to their boss after Quillfire knocked out the Autobots with a volley of stunning quill-missiles (having lost all the stuff he was trying to steal in the first place), and the trio made a break for it to try and salvage the mission.

The Decepticons hit an auto parts distributorship, but were interrupted mid-raid by Grimlock disguised as a crane. Back and Forth used their magnetic powers in concert to try and pull him apart, but were forced to flee when Bumblebee and Strongarm arrived. Moving to a nearby truck stop, the trio were again interrupted by the Autobots. Back lept to a high rafter and started blasting away in orb-cannon mode, forcing the mode-locked Autobots to scramble. He tried to pummel Bumblebee with a hail of parts yanked off the shelves, but quick movement by Bee left the Mini-Con buried and unconscious. For reasons unknown, scanning either of Back's toys unlocks the same playable character, which is based on the deco of the single-packed figure.

• Decepticon Hunter Grimlock vs. Mini-Con Decepticon Back (Mini-Con Battle Pack, 2016)

Back is a "Cyclone"-type Mini-Con that transforms from a four-legged creature with stubby arms into a spherical object that can be launched by Mini-Con Deployers Overload or Crazybolt.

He does not include the sprue of clear plastic accessories from his single-packed release.

This version (the first to see release) was only available as part of a "Battle Pack" with Decepticon Hunter Grimlock, in the second wave of 2-piece Battle Packs.

This mold was also used to make Ironjam.

Back/"Forth" (see below) was released as part of wave 3 of the Robots in Disguise toy line's general retail Mini-Con assortment, in his show colors. He also includes various accessory pieces that are still on their plastic sprue (which is shaped like a Decepticon insignia) inside the packaging. The accessories can be attached to the figure to form a set of armor.

• Prior to the toy's release, there was quite a bit of confusion regarding single-packed Back's name. Some online retailers initially solicited the figure under the names "Decepticon Backfire" or "Kickback". Whilst the figure was subsequently named as just "Decepticon Back" in official Hasbro solicitations, stock photos of the toy in packaging and in the Robots in Disguise mobile game, further confusion arose when the figure's North American packaging sported the name "Decepticon Forth", as did the listing on the official Hasbro.com website. International releases, including Hong Kong, Australia and Europe, still sport the "Back" name. Eventually both versions were even found side by side at the same store in the US… and then Hasbro released a Mini-Con Mega-Pack sporting an unchanged re-release of the figure, again named "Decepticon Forth". With the Robots in Disguise cartoon having presented Forth as a very different-looking character, this wiki currently treats that name for the figure as an error, though we can't help but notice that Hasbro seems to keep quite literally going back and forth with the figure's name.
• Back's magnetic "breath" weapon is depicted with blue energy rings, matching the "blueshift" doppler effect of light sources moving towards the viewer, as well as the color commonly used for the "south" end of magnets.
