- There are numerous references to fairy tales:
- Cody names Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Hansel and Gretel as examples of fairy tales.
- Frankie sports a red hoodie.
- Kade makes reference to Goldilocks and the Three Bears as he tests Mrs Neederlander's oatmeal.
- The idea of a wolf visiting Mrs Neederlander is probably also from Red Riding Hood.
- Frankie leaving a trail of crackers is a reference to Hansel and Gretel.
- Taylor in the tower is a reference to Rapunzel.
- The idea of Taylor being turned into a frog and requiring a kiss to turn back is from The Frog Prince.
