Buckethead is a Decepticon Constructicon from the Unicron Trilogy and Generation 1 continuity families (via the 2003 Universe toyline).
"Say I'm better than Slash or I'm taking your purse!"

Buckethead is one of the six Micromaster Constructicons. Don't let the fact she'll work with them Autobot toffs fool you, she is Decepticon through and through. In a fight she's got her Gran Pistol, a nanoblade shovel which she can use to cut anyone who starts something with her, or a welding torch which may not kill but can sting like bugger if she gets 'em up close and personal. In a real pinch, she can combine with her fellow Constructicons to form Devastator, with Buckethead forming the chest, so c'mon and have a go if y' think yer hard enough!

Fiction

In Aurex 1104.30-DB Zeta (a highly Primax-influenced universe), Defensor, Rail Racer, and Superion were born from Dr. Brian Jones's attempts at reverse-engineering Maximus combiner technology and applying it to Mini-Con anatomy. However, the Decepticons stole the technology and created their own combiner, Devastator. Superion, Defensor, and Rail Racer fought Devastator in the Combiner Wars during the Unicron Singularity crisis. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/07/31

Beast Wars: Uprising

Buckethead was one of the last generation of full-sized Decepticons forged during the Great War. With her construction vehicle alt-mode, she idolized the legends of the Constructicons and Devastator. During her time in combat, Buckethead lost many friends to the fighting, instilling a sense of hate in her. When the war was forcibly ended, Buckethead wound up serving as an overseer on the planet Lucifer, and like a great many Builders, became immobile from lack of energon. During the following centuries of immobility, Buckethead learnt the value of compromise, and when Lucifer collapsed, she returned to Cybertron, and heard Hot Rod's call to downsize. She accepted, becoming a Micromaster and one of the Constructicons.

Five years into the Grand Uprising, Buckethead and her unit were assigned to transporting a Resistance prisoner, under Hot Rod's orders. As they were making their way through Proximax, they came under attack from the Resistance, looking to get at the prisoner for some payback. With her commander Hightower down and everyone else scattered, Buckethead decided to make a run for it. Unfortunately for her, the building she'd chosen to flee through had a large, unfriendly Resistance crab-bot waiting for her. As they fought, she noticed her fellow 'cons had dropped the ball, leaving their prisoner unguarded. So she decided to release the prisoner, figuring her attacker would have to choose between her or him. He decided to go for her. Buckethead was saved by the arrival of a knife-wielding Maximal taking out the crab-bot's arms. Buckethead used the distraction to clobber "X" with a girder, but this just left her free to be grabbed by him. Fortunately, "X" decided to throw her at a new arrival rather than kill her, and then collapsed the bridge everyone present was standing on.

Buckethead awoke to find herself on top of "X", and tried finishing him off, only to be stopped by the Maximal from before. Discussion and introductions followed, the Maximal (called Overshoot) telling everyone they were needed for something. Reluctantly, Buckethead went with them, on a long journey down through the bowels of Cybertron, until they came to a chamber containing The Oracle itself. Buckethead didn't take Overshoot's revelation that the Oracle wanted the war too seriously. According to Overshoot, there were a group of infiltrators pretending to be Predacons, called "the Antares Eight", trying to provoke the Human Confederacy, and they needed to be stopped.

On the return journey to the surface, Buckethead began hitting it off with Stiletto. Upon their return to the surface, the motley crew received word of an attack on a broadcast tower, and figured that was likely their target. Before departing, Buckethead removed the restraining bolt Snapper had been affixed with. As Stiletto scouted out the tower, she reported signs of battle still going on in Proximax, something Bucket was overjoyed to hear. Then Stiletto came under attack. Buckethead quickly joined in the fight, but the group were soon caught at a disadvantage by their enemies, and Overshoot killed. Acting quickly, Rampage grabbed Buckethead and Snapper and dove over the side of the building, taking the brunt of the impact for them. Surprised by his apparent act of sacrifice, and demoralized by Overshoot's death, Buckethead opted out... until Rampage woke up. Snapper hit upon the idea of getting reinforcements, and so Buckethead set off to get her 'cons to help out, with Rampage riding piggy-back on her.

On arrival at the scene, Bucket found both sides in a stand-off, her fellow Constructicons having taken refuge in a local casino. She managed to convince them to help out, and the team showed up just in time to help deal with a newcomer, some ugly-looking combiner. Buckethead managed to convince Hightower to let her borrow his usual catchphrase before they combined.

In the aftermath of the fight, the Constructicons took part in negotiations, Buckethead agreeing with Stilleto's declaration of neutrality, followed swiftly after by the rest of the Constructicons. Cultural Appropriation

Buckethead's newfound confidence led her to step into the role of team leader, and Hightower made way for her to command the Constructicons in their new mission. The Constructicons and the Ex-Bots prevented Tarantulas from using a Robo-Smasher to brainwash all the people of Proximax. They also recovered the Autobot-turned-Maximal Grimlock from his control. As the Vehicon Apocalypse began, the Ex-Bots chose to get involved with the other armies of the proto-races. Buckethead and the Constructicons salvaged a lobotomized Sweep and retrofitted and detailed it as the team's new Ex-Jet.

On the march to Nova Cronum, the Constructicons formed Devastator to wade through the hordes of Vehicons. At the Grand Mal itself, Devastator joined forces with the Maximal combiner Magnaboss. Their combined assault weakened the Grand Mal's force field enough for Lord Imperious Delirious to take note of them, and fire the massive optic ray at the combiners. Devastator pushed Magnaboss out of the way. Magnaboss lost an arm, a fifth of his gestalt mind, but Devastator suffered worse. Half his components were damaged beyond repair, and the Builder combiner was out for the rest of the fight.

Although the war was won, and peace finally came to Cybertron, the Constructicons were in mourning. With the death of Hightower, Long Haul, and Bone Crusher, Skavenger was the last survivor of the original team, and Buckethead had lost half her team. Derailment

Time marched on. The Constructicons emerged as heroes of the Vehicon Apocalypse, and so it was decided to hold auditions to fill the gaps in their roster. Rubbish's Scrapyard in Hexima became the Constructicon training grounds as Skavenger, Buckethead, and Quickmix supervised the new potential recruits. Eventually, Wideload, Road Hauler and Steam Hammer were chosen. Devastator, champion of the Builders, would live again! The Inexorable March

Toys

Universe (2003)

"Fine, have it. I'm keeping Megatron's nickname, though."
  • Buckethead (Micromaster, 2004)
    • Accessories: Devastator legs
A redeco of Gran Arm, Buckethead transforms into a front-end loader. She can form the chest or back to any similar-construction Micromaster combiner robot, but her nominal position is as the chest of Constructicon Devastator.
A KB Toys exclusive, she and the other Micromaster Constructicons were also ultimately available from Sears during Christmastime, and Kmart's online store.
This mold was also used to make Micromaster Scrapper.

Energon

  • Buckethead (Micromaster, 2004)
    • Accessories: Devastator legs
The Micromaster Constructicons were sold in Europe under the Energon banner, presumably since Europe never actually got Universe. The toys are identical to the Universe versions.

Notes

  • It seems highly likely that Buckethead's name came about due to Hasbro's inability to secure the trademark for "Scrapper", as other members of the team use the names of the Generation 1 Constructicons who share their alternate mode.
  • Every bit of purple on Buckethead is paint. Her wheels are the only parts not cast in bright green plastic.
  • Buckethead wasn't established as female until 2016's "Cultural Appropriation" story retroactively revealed her gender.
