Data slugs are a type of storage media from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Fragile. Do not bend.

A data slug is a small, rectangular object which can store significant quantities of information in a small, compact package.

Fiction

In the past, Transformers with data slug alternate modes were common to the point of ubiquity. When the Functionist Council rose to prominence and instated the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy, data slug Cybertronians were deemed members of the "disposable class". Before & After
