Anti-Vocationist League

"We are the Judean People's Front crack suicide squad. Suicide squad! Attack!"

The Anti-Vocationist League (AVL) stands in opposition to the Functionist Council, supporting the freedom of the oppressed. Many of them have "redundant" alt-modes, such as data-sticks, the Lunabots from the astro class, and those who have altered themselves to look like the fabled Useless One.

The Functionist Universe

[edit]

In a universe where Megatron never came to exist, the Great War never occurred. The AVL grew into a massive dissident movement and a perpetual thorn in the side of the Functionist Council. Twelve-of-Twelve and his Functionaries were rounding up AVL dissidents when they encountered the universally-displaced crewmembers of the Lost Light and naturally assumed they were simply more of the rabble-rousers to be arrested. Other AVL members, led by Clicker, attempted a rescue, but only succeeded in proving they were terrible at the whole resistance-fighter thing, needing to be saved by Team Rodimus. Clicker then revealed the AVL's base of operations was Cyberutopia. Anomie

Or at least, that was their nickname for it. In actuality, it was the city of Kalis, since renamed to "Adaptica" and protected by Nine-of-Twelve. As the AVL explained things to Team Rodimus, the Functionist Council unveiled the alleged true purpose of Rung, a mining drill designed to free Vector Sigma from behind the wall of ununtrium that the Senate had locked it behind. As everyone gawked at the news, Luna 2 suddenly appeared overhead. A World Misplaced

When the moon unveiled tractor beam emitters, Nine-of-Twelve recognized this as an old plan of Six-of-Twelve's, the moon beginning to harvest the AVL for raw materials. As Rodimus led a team to rescue Rung, Megatron rallied the AVL to combat the moon. Bad Moon Rising Once all the civilians had been evacuated, Megatron ordered the AVL to flee the doomed city. Modes of Production

When Team Rodimus returned to Necroworld without Megatron and Terminus, the former took command of the AVL, going on a walking tour of its various cells to rally it into a proper fighting force against the Functionist Council. This Machine Kills Fascists

With Luna 2 lost to them, the Council turned Cybertron itself into their instrument of destruction, affixing a set of planetary engines to their homeworld and sailing it through the Warren to enact their holy xenocide. Claiming the Last Light as a flagship, the AVL followed the Council into space, their early warnings allowing many alien civilizations time to evacuate before the Council responded to that by giving Cybertron a robot mode in Primus' likeness. Over the centuries, Orion Pax and Impactor joined the AVL but they, along with Terminus, eventually gave their lives for the cause.

Roughly eight centuries after Megatron became their leader, the AVL crossed over into Megatron's universe, uniting with Team Rodimus to take down the Functionist Council. The Return of the King After Rung had been revealed as the true Primus, the AVL joined a ground brainstorm on how to defeat the Council without harming the innocent population still trapped on Cybertron. The Unremembering Subsequently, the AVL joined Team Rodimus at the hot spots, allowing a surge of Matrix energy to funnel down to Vector Sigma and disintegrate the Council. A Spark Among Embers
