Reeeeeed Robot! Yummmmm

Eggbird (エッグバード Eggubādo) is the airborne Maximal Egg Beast, able to transform from a hawk mode into, uh, a ball. Like his fellow Egg Beasts, he is among the oldest of the Maximals. His small stature belies his bravery and experience in aerial combat.

Fiction

Ask Vector Prime

Eggbird was a sleeper agent of Unicron, inserted into Maximal society. Like all the Egg Beasts, his alternate forms bore many similarities to Unicron's own structure. Unicron would reuse his design for the Sparkbot Zangetsu. Ask Vector Prime, 29/9/2015

  • Eggbird (Egg Beast, 1998)
    • Japanese ID number: EC-2
Eggbird transforms from a mechanical sphere (ostensibly an "egg" mode) into a robotic hawk. He is cast in red translucent plastic except for a handful of chromed and die-cast parts. He has a non-removable keychain attached to his beast-mode breast (well, you can remove it if you bend the metal attaching ring).
The Egg Beasts were late (and low-run) additions to the Takara Beast Wars line, and as such demand a higher price tag than one would expect at first.
This mold is a retooling of the pre-Micro Change "Metal Hawk" toy, giving him a new loop for his attached keychain.
This mold was also used to make Dark Eggbird and Kiss Players Zangetsu.
