Quintessa is a Transformer from The Last Knight portion of the live-action film series continuity family.

Quintessa is a mysterious and powerful space sorceress. The self-described "Prime of Life", she claims to have created the Cybertronian species and considers Cybertron to be hers to command.

She's also been referred to as "The Great Deceiver", though, so how much of what she says is actually true may be up for debate.

It seems my little Princess, in your anger, you destroyed them both.

Quintessa claimed to be the Prime of Life and the creator of the transformers race, though she offered little clear evidence to back up her claims and took unchallenged control of the shattered Cybertron. In the distant past, her guardians, the Knights of Iacon, descovered her wicked ways and betrayed her, stole her Staff of power and spirited it away to another planet. At some point she discovered the presence of Cybertrons ancient enemy, Unicron, within Earth, the very planet her staff had been hidden on. She then Dispatched the bounty hunter Lockdown to capture Optimus Prime, the one she held accountable for Cybertrons destruction and began moving the the planets through space towards Earth. Lockdown eventually failed and was killed by Optimus, who flew off into space in search of his creators to force them to leave the Earth alone. He soon shut down and rusted from being in space for so long. In the time after then, she made contact with Galvatron, the reborn form of the Decepticon Leader Megatron. After restoring him to a purely Cybertronian form, she charged him with returning to Earth to retrieve her Staff in order to drain Unicron, who lay within the Earth, to restore Cybertron.

As Cybertron entered Earths solar system, the unconscious Optimus drifted close by and was pull to the surface, reactivating in the process. Optimus entered he control center and she greeted him as his "creator". He angrily charged at Quintessa but but she meerly blasted him with an electric energy wave and subdued him with automatic chains and her enforcer, Infernocus. Quintessa chastised him for allegedly destroying his home world Cybertron. Optimus objects that Megatron is responsible for the damage done before Quintessa introduces a red virus into his mind that corrupts him so that he obeys her command to help seek an ancient staff stolen from her by her 12 guardians. Quintessa then dubs him "Nemesis Prime" and reveals the pressence of Unicron within the earth. With "Nemesis" under her control, she sent him ahead to earth to retrieve the staff, but also dispatched Megatron to ensure the task was completed. She smiled as she felt the staff activate, now wielded by Viviane Wembly, a descendant of Merlin, the human who the knights had entrusted it to. Optimus eventually broke free of her control, at which point Megatron swooped in to steal the staff and continue his mission.

As Cybertron now loomed in Earths atmosphere, Megatron delivered the staff to her. She then activated the drain of Unicrons energy to reform Cybertrton, though she remained weary of Vivian, the only other being who could wield the staff. She used her powers and acted as a conduit of the staffs power and charged Megatron to lead the defense against the joint Autobot/human/Knights attack. Unfortunately, their forces were defeated and the Autobots infiltrated her control center. UAn attack from the humans then caused the control center to tumble freely towards to the Earth. Upon seeing Vivian make a grab for the staff, She ordered Megatron to kill the human, but he was dispatched and thrown from the structure by Optimus. As she attempted to maintain control, Optimus once again attacked her. Her power easily stopped her would-be servant, and she scolded him for his treachery. Unfortunately, optimus was only a distraction and she was blasted and seemingly vaporized by the Autobot Bumblebee.

Her plan ultimately failed as Vivian retrieved the Staff, sparing Earth, and thus Unicron while the Autobots returned to take control of Cybertron. She was not quite defeated, appearing alive in well in the form of a human on Earth. She approached one of the study sites around one of Unicrons horns, informing the humans that touching it would anger him, though she still knew a way to destroy him.

Notes

• Quintessa is loosely based on the Quintessons of Generation 1 lore, while her name comes form their home planet. Her physical design is based off of Quintus Prime, though her gender might be inspired by Solus Prime.
• Quintessa has the honor of becoming the first female antagonist who plays an important role in the live-action movies.
• Quintessa's ability to teleport may come from a built-in space bridge similarly to that of The Fallen.
