In early 2018, Hackensack managed to secure Karen Fishook to return as "Queen Spacela" in the new Space Battle film. After he saw a biographical film about Starscream by Thundercracker, he saw a potential market opening for Cybertronian cinema and contacted the Seeker to propose making a new film with him. Notes
- J.J. Hackensack is a character from the Parker Brothers board game "International Movie Maker". Having him direct Space Battle turns him into a reference to J. J. Abrams, while visually he's based on George Lucas right down to the silver hair, beard, and plaid shirts.
