On Cybertron, Skybolt was instructed by Megatron to build the Skywrecker, a flying warship. During its test run, the machine suffered a technical fault, and Skybolt was chastised by Megatron. After complaining about the inferior materials he had to use in building the warship, he sarcastically suggested that Megatron ask the Autobots to build a new Skywrecker, and the Decepticon leader accepted this plan.

Skybolt oversaw the Skywrecker testing after it had been repaired by a captured Ultra Magnus. Unfortunately, the vehicle's steering had been sabotaged by Ultra Magnus, so it headed towards the assembled Decepticons, allowing the captive Ultra Magnus and Goldbug to escape. Planet Without Hope
