The Lightformers are an Autobot subgroup from the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Lightformers are two Autobots who fight using big artillery platforms in either mode. They are:

Released towards the end of the European Generation 1 toyline, the Lightformers' (and Trakkons') big gimmick were gun platforms that could be mounted on the figures in vehicle mode or manned in robot mode. These platforms used a combination of light-piping and gears to simulate two beams of laser fire striking your target if you looked through their targeting scopes.

The Lightformers were again available as part of the Generation 2 toyline a year later. The toys themselves were identical to their earlier versions, but were now packaged on Generation 2-themed blister cards instead of in Generation 1 boxes.
