Synopsis

[edit]

When tasked with her first job at Marvel Comics Ltd. – the attaching of free gift stickers to every copy of Transformers 99 – the newly-hired office junior turns her nose up and quits on the spot. The stubbies brainstorm that they need someone to follow orders without question... and, conveniently enough, one proffers a robot he found on the scrapheap! Surely a robot won't be too stuck up for a such a menial task... although the robot in question soon finds himself stuck together with sticky stickers!

Notes

[edit]
  • This strip was made to tie in with the Ultra Magnus badge that came free with this issue. The previous issue featured a strip in a similar vein.
  • A recurring theme in Robo-Capers is the malfunction of consumer robotics designed for simple tasks. This is the only strip of its kind to involve Transformers in any way.
  • The stubbie in charge appears to be a caricature of then-editor Ian Rimmer, and it's not unlikely that the other staffers are based on real Marvel UK personnel.
  • As confirmed by Grim Grams in issue 108, the old robot is in fact CYRIL, the Editor Droid from Marvel UK's then-recently cancelled Return of the Jedi weekly comic!
