::The reasoning is that, even though it seems to ''work'', all the Mediawiki help files that talk about how to make headers say to start with two. [[wikipedia:Help:Section]] says that starting with one is undesirable because the section heading is then the same size as the page title. That seems like a pretty arbitrary reason, but, as far as I've seen it is traditional on basically all wikis to start at two. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 23:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC) | ::The reasoning is that, even though it seems to ''work'', all the Mediawiki help files that talk about how to make headers say to start with two. No, Not "Created"
[edit]My "created" comment in the edit history is inaccurate. I was literally working on this page at the same time as the actual creator, and forgot to change my summary. Mea culpa. JW 19:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Headers
[edit]Don't we have a general rule against using single "=" headers? JW 19:45, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have no idea. If so, what's the reasoning behind it? And regardless, it looks like most of the G1 run is formatted that way, though. I'd rather change a dozen G2 pages than 80 from G1! -- Repowers 19:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- The reasoning is that, even though it seems to work, all the Mediawiki help files that talk about how to make headers say to start with two. wikipedia:Help:Section says that starting with one is undesirable because the section heading is then the same size as the page title. That seems like a pretty arbitrary reason, but, as far as I've seen it is traditional on basically all wikis to start at two. --Steve-o 23:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't even think it's undesirable, considering that heading announces the series name and issue numbers -- identifiers of equal importance to the story/page title. As for tradition, well, since when did we ever care what other Wikis are doing?
- I suppose if we want to toe the line, however, we could just change that first header to a 2nd-level one, same as all the ones below it. -- Repowers 23:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
