The troops, including Mahfouz's idol, William Lennox, rushed into the village. Mahfouz led Lennox to Akram so Lennox could ask for a telephone. Akram spoke enough English to understand and handed Lennox a cell phone while he led his son to safety. Akram never got his phone back.
