The Recyclons are a breed of non-Cybertron transforming robots created by the Harvest Lords of Sigrath. They are tasked with searching the galaxy for raw or waste materials to reclaim and process into energon for their Lords in a far-reaching "clean up the universe" mission...even if that material happened to have native life forms living on it, sentient or no.
Each team of Recyclons is capable of combining to form a Prime Processing Unit to convert matter into energon, though the team leader remains in an independent robot mode to operate the machine.
