The Autobots (usually called Cybertrons in Japanese sources) are one of the primary factions in the Transformers mythos. They often find themselves defending other species against the Decepticons and upholding justice.

They are considered "the good guys" in most Transformers stories.
A heroic, honorable group, they are comprised mostly of generic, domestic vehicles such as cars, trucks, or rescue vehicles. This is not always the case, however, as their ranks certainly contain neer-do-wells, malcontents, and unsavory types, plus the neccessities of war mean there are many with more combat-orietned alternate forms.
(Note: in Japan, during Transformers 2010, the Cybertrons who transformed into automobiles were referred as a subgroup of the faction called "Autobots".)
