ibooks Inc. was a publisher associated with Simon & Schuster that published several full-length (~300 pages) Transformers paperbacks between 2003 and 2004.
In mid-2005 founder Byron Preiss was killed in a car accident. ibooks continued to operate for another year, allowing it to fulfill many of its outstanding contracts with authors before filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection on February 22, 2006.
