The name Bumblebee can refer to several different characters:
- 1984 — Bumblebee, the yellow kid-appeal character from the Generation 1. For a while he was known as Goldbug before going back to Bumblebee. For toys of this character, see Bumblebee (G1)/toys.
- 2007 — Bumblebee, the yellow
one-man franchisekid-appeal character from the 2007 film. For toys of this character, see Bumblebee (Movie)/toys.
- 2007 — Bumblebee, the yellow kid-appeal character from Transformers Animated.
- 2008 — Bumblebee, later known as Goldbug, the evil Autobot spy/Seeker commander from Shattered Glass. Partially yellow, definitely not kid-appeal.
"Bumblebee" is also the Waspinator's French - Canadian French name "Bourdon" for his original toy.
Bumblebee should not be confused with:
- Bumper, the yellow nobody who is not Bumblebee and is definitely not...
- Cliffjumper, a separate character who is frequently made from Bumblebee redecos. He is sometimes, but usually not yellow.
- Hubcap, a yellow retool of Cliffjumper.
- Bug Bite, Glyph, Tap-Out, Carerra and Volks, those who are the redecos/retools of Generation 1 Bumblebee or Cliffjumper. Neither are yellow, kid-appeal may vary.
- Cheetor, the yellow kid-appeal character from Beast Wars.
- Hot Shot, the yellow kid-appeal character from the Unicron Trilogy, who Transformers Animated Bumblebee is based on.
- Captain Fanzone's car, which looks a heck of a lot like Transformers Animated Bumblebee. It is yellow.
- Tap-Out, Glyph, Freeway, Searchlight, Hubcap, Sedan, Carerra, Furao and Bumper, the other Transformers Animated characters with Bumblebee's Body-type. Some are yellowish.
- BB, whose name probably doesn't stand for the abbreviation of "Bumblebee". He is not yellow, either.
