Are the changes in Earth's technology and relations with aliens addressed in the Japanese series? Earth seems to regress after or perhaps during Headmasters. :Masterforce was definately still the future- (thay had videophones for one) but it was nto '''futuristic''', probably a conscious choice ont he aprt of producers, thinkign therew was some advantage to a mroe grounded series.
You jsut have to accept that we tended to see all the futuristic-stuff in 2010, and none of it by MF. Presumably both were always THERE, but we were jsut prestende with a slanted view of how prevalant future-tech was in Season 3 because the story follwoed the Witwickies, whow ere always att he center of such development, and tended to run into the (comparatively rare) high-tech stuff a lot.
(that explanation works up until New York City, which is shown in season 3 and Master Force, and just- cannot hold both explanations... but we ignore that.)
Victory was very slyly retro-1970's BTW, if you're lookign for a reaosn why we didnt' see a lot of futyuretech there either. It's liek Superman Returns, which clearly IS modern (with cell phones, computers, flatscreens et al) but is very carefulyl set-dressed to make you THINk it's in the 1970's.

Revision as of 01:38, 29 July 2006
I'm uneasy about the way the latest revision [1] constructs its timeline, seemingly declaring that Beast Wars definitely happened in the G1 cartoon universe and that the G1 cartoon universe is definitely the same as the GI Joe cartoon universe. (Or, at least, is similar enough that it includes Cobra-La for example.) Multi-continuity synthesis is sometimes appropriate, but should always be explained, and here I don't think it is appropriate in the first place. The entry would be much better off split up into sections for different TF series, like many of our other articles. --Steve-o 23:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
The Ice age happened after beast Wars. X-BoB58 23:18, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- X-bob- which ice age?
- Ar we sure we want to remove Cobra-La? Didn't Old Snake exhibit evidenc eof the changes from gi Joe:TM? -derik
- He did, ya know. Scaley fingers comin' outta the gloves. Anyway, fair point on the G1/BW bit, I was jest a-portin' it over from Wikipedia without thinking enough about it. I do feel that the other Sunbow shows deserve some kinda reference here, though, even as a footnote or something, as they are nominally the same Earth. There's a bit of a list of numerous connections that may sway ye. - Chris McFeely
- Haven't we already had the discussion re: Sunbow shows? I'm still against their inclusion on this Wiki.--G.B. Blackrock 23:13, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, we've already had this discussion. Connections or not, Cobra-La never happened in Transformers fiction, and adding it in means we have to have a complete G.I. Joe, Dr. Who, and Fantastic Four wikipedia in this wiki as well. Hey, Death's Head met all these guys, you know? And they met all these guys, and ... I mean, dude, do we really want to have to make full entries on Presidents Reagan and Bush Sr? No. We stick to strictly what's been seen in Transformers material. --ItsWalky 23:16, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Was unaware that the discussion had been had already, so, fair enough. Can't say as how I particularly agree with it, though, and I don't see why one casual mention, or at least a single page detailing the concept of the shared "Sunbow Universe" automatically means a "complete wikipedia" is needed. I mean, does that mean that for a Death's Head entry, one cannot mention the fact that he met the FF, or the Doctor, or Dragon's Claws, or whatever - because that somehow means they need an entry? Ach, I have not the strength in me to argue. :) - Chris McFeely

- I understand Walky's desire to prevent sprawl. Do we do profiles of Nick Fury's elaborate past? Spider-man's? Death's Head's? (Yet, DH's does seem more elaborate.)
- Cobra-La made it into TF v. Gi Joe, where it had ties to Unicron. I honestly don't see how you can justify not including it.
- I'ts-- no one wants an elaborate history of Gi Joe, but an overview of the relevant bits that seem to overlap w/ the TFU might be in order. Marissa Fairborne. Mirtonia. Oktober Guard.-71.37.253.98 02:19, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Did the bio reveal that? I thought the bio just revealed that he ws guardian of Gaea, the future Earth, without going into any further length about his history.
Also, the second half ofg the BW2 secvtion, clarifyignt he retroactive nature of Gaea's ID, should be italicised. Nor do you need to go into detaisl about Tokyo beyond- "Though it was not Rarth as originally concieved, this does jibe with some things about Gaea," linkign to Gae's page for further explication.
Part of the point is to make it easy to get information out of these entries. This is nto the entry to be explainign the complicated Earth/Gaea thing, that's in Gaea's entry. The ammount of noise through which oen has to wade to achieve the 'signal' "Gaea is Earth, thoguh this is a retcon" is very high. -Derik 00:52, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
