Cal is a man-child of a human from the live action continuity family.

Colin "Cal" Banes is the father of Mikaela. He knows everything there is about cars, and he once claimed he didn't want to go to heaven if there weren't any to fix.

You just need to make sure that he has permission to be working on said car.

Transformers (2007) movie

Cal was a long time car thief, and as he couldn't always find a baby sitter, he would occasionally take Mikaela along on his heists, teaching her the tricks of the trade. They were caught by the police during one such theft, and when Mikaela wouldn't turn over her father, the police charged her out of spite. Jerks. Mikaela would leave out her father's record and her own, and generally not try to let slip her knowledge of cars, instead saying that her father was a real grease monkey. Transformers

By the time Mikaela's boyfriend was heading to college, Cal had been released (on account of Mikaela and Sam staying quiet about certain things) and had gotten a job at Mike's Custom Cycles with Mikaela. Mikaela cited one of the reasons for not going East with Sam was to make sure her man-child father had some stability in his life, and prevent him from slipping back into his old habits, though she did say it loud enough for Cal to hear it. When the Decepticons returned to Earth, Sam Witwicky discovered a piece of the All Spark and gave it to Mikaela for safekeeping. She hid it in her father's workshop in Tranquility, but unfortunately, the Decepticons came looking for it so they could use it to revive Megatron.
