Carl Thompson is a human military general from the Marvel UK portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

General Carl Thomspon is a loyal soldier in the US military, tasked with the protection of a secret base out in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, where scientists are attempting to create a powerful disintegrator bomb. He does not enjoy this assignment, as he remains unconvinced of the need for progressively bigger bombs. He sleeps with a gun on his bedside table.

General Thompson was woken by the sound of the perimeter alarm, indicating that someone (or something) was attacking his base. Assessing the threat, he deducted that nothing short of a nuclear strike would stop the rampaging Snarl, but under Order 231 he was forced to attempt to defend the base. Once it became apparent that his troops could not stop the Dinobot, he gave the orders for all personnel to abandon the base and primed the experimental disintegrator bomb. The resultant explosion stunned Snarl into inactivity and destroyed Thompson's base.

When the Autobots Mirage, Brawn and Trailbreaker arrived to collect their errant comrade, the General approached them and explained himself. Their subsequent chat was spied upon by Laserbeak. Dinobot Hunt!
