Transformers Animated: The Cool is a Japanese comic written and drawn by Naoto Tsushima. It was serialized in Kerokero Ace, the first chapter debuting in the May 2010 issue. The Cool acted as a loose adaptation of its cartoon counterpart, primarily culling each installment's plot from an episode of the TV series and following the same general story arc. However, The Cool deviated from its source material considerably on most occasions; while following the same plots and boasting the same resolutions as the cartoon episodes, its stories acted as a different means to the same end. Several chapters were completely original, as well.
After completing its ten issue run, The Cool changed its title to The Cool Extra for three more issues and began telling stories taking place in between issues of The Cool (mainly, episodes Tsushima initially skipped).
Kadokawa will release the Transformers Animated: The Cool - Special Edition collection on April 30, 2011, in which Clear Activators Optimus will be packaged along with it, costing 3150 yen. The first day of pre-orders opened on October 7, 2010, and the last day for pre-orders was January 14, 2011.

Notes
- Prior to revealing the The Cool project, Tsushima imported the trade paperback collection of The Arrival along with a copy of Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac. He later revealed that he didn't understand a word of English.
