A transportation mode is an extra mode specialized for transportation, above and beyond the normal vehicle mode or beast mode. The transportation mode usually features vehicle parts, such as wheels, wings, rotors, or a surfboard.

Tracks possesses a "flight mode".
Beast Wars
Almost all of the Transmetal characters have a transportation mode. It's sometimes referred to as flying mode, flight mode, or vehicle mode. (Or, if you're Rattrap, Knievel mode.)
The following Transmetal characters have a transportation mode:

- Airazor
- Depth Charge
- Megatron (both Transmetal and Transmetal 2 forms)
- Optimus Primal / Optimal Optimus
- Rampage
- Rattrap
- Rhinox
- Scavenger
- Terrorsaur
- Waspinator
The following characters have a vehicle mode:
