Panini Armada comics
After the ERDT discovered three alien robots in 1959, they converted them into weapons that would follow their commands. As they showed the robots' capabilities to robots to a general, Doctor Grant rolled out the device in control of their higher brain functions. He was then shocked to see that the robots were way more powerful than they thought, and the test run was aborted. Blast from the Past!
