2005 IDW continuity

After picking up Colonel Daniel Witwicky in a helicopter, Grant informed him of the nature of the Decepticons then attacking New York City. When Grant tried to have Witwicky keep it under wraps from his soldiers, the colonel became irate at the suggestion that his troops shouldn't know what they were going to face and threatened to have Sergeant Manning beat him up.

When they landed, Grant again pulled out "CIA clearance" and Manning took him elsewhere and gave him a bruised lip. He later observed a meeting between Witwicky and other officers, visibly scowling over his recent beating. All Hail Megatron #2
