- The Marvel UK comic begins publication.
- Seasons 1 and 2 of the US cartoon air in Japan as Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformer.

- The Transformers: The Movie was released in theatres.
1990s

- Generation 2 attempts to revive the Transformers franchise.
