Should we have 70's entries, for things like Diaclone being released in Japan, maybe even some specific dates, if we know them (what date various series premiered, TFTM's theatrical release, etc?) -hx 14:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

I can't think of a good reason not to. --M Sipher 14:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Shouldn't we categorize this somehow? Or make it readily available from the main page? --M Sipher 14:49, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
II would think this would fall udner the same category as an article on a Botcon, which lists dates, attendance number,s keynote speakers, etc. Nonfictional information. (I have no idea if we have such a category though.) -Derik 18:53, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

"The Transformers launches in the US, in toy, comic and cartoon formats, forever ruining Transformers." Genius. --Andrusi 18:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

My hat is off to whoever added that bit about "The dawn of time". TVsGrady 02:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

I noted the new preview of Transformers Animated. Fans don't seem to be taking it that badly now. Instead of "RUINED FOREVER", we just get "RUINED". 67.160.13.149 22:49, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I love how the first recorded fan reaction for Transformers is plain compaining and bashing... XD -Hepathos 23:56, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Dawn of time

[edit]

As much as I agree with it, I dunno if those jokes have a place here. ...at least, in the body of the article itself. Now, fit it in a caption, and we have cart blanche. --ItsWalky 00:41, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Despite my objections, I have fixed some errors. --ItsWalky 00:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
what day of the week was October 23? -Derik 02:59, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
I dunno. My Windows calendar doesn't go back that far. --ItsWalky 03:26, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Sunday --FortMax 04:23, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, the footnote should probably note that while the date referred to is G1:1, the date in question was calculated by all the begatting. -Derik 03:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
I guess we could put the "note" with Wikipedia:Image:God2-Sistine Chapel.png and remove the bullet point, but I don't think it has the same panache. Thanks for correcting my errors, anyway; I forgot it was 6,000 years before now, not Christ. Interrobang 04:28, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

De-snarking

[edit]

In like the of the recent deletions and reversions, I think this page actually could stand to be totally de-snarked, and would be better off purely as straight forward information. --KilMichaelMcC 21:26, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

I completely disagree. --M Sipher 21:32, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Well, to cite a specific problem I have with it, things like "Everyone loves "Transformers 2000," but they hate Robots in Disguise" don't do much to help accurately convey information to people unfamiliar with the history of the brand and its fandom. --KilMichaelMcC 22:59, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Footnote it! -Derik 23:18, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
It would take quite an extensive footnote to explain the history of the non-existant "Transformers 2000." and to clarify that not "everyone" loved it, and that not "everyone" hated RiD. And we'd need plenty more footnotes for the other jokes here, too. How about we just make this article more focused on being user-friendly for readers looking to familiarize themselves with the history of Transformers, and forget about the self-amusement? Or is that crazy talk? --KilMichaelMcC 23:25, 11 June 2009 (EDT)
Have you seen the size of this thing? We're well past "user-friendly" and well into "established you're a dork about this if you're reading it" already. Plus, you know, there's the capability to link to the RID page that discusses TF2000 right in the article. --M Sipher 00:02, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Time Frame

[edit]

Or whatever you call the eras of BC and AD. Not to be a stickler about this, but does anyone think that we should change the BC and AD time frames to BCE and CE? Yeah, we've been using the former for quite a few centuries, but since almost everything else in this world (and on the internet) has changed to the whole Common Era thing, anyone think we should? I'd be more than happy to do it, but not AU because, well, you know.--AWT88 20:46, 13 June 2009 (EDT)

It's been a week, I'm doing it.--AWT88 13:00, 19 June 2009 (EDT)
Whatever. Unless BC/AD is used in the fiction. The only instance I can think of that happening is in the one cartoon episode. Actually I would prefer to use "millions of years ago" when appropriate and avoid the whole thing. - Starfield 13:43, 19 June 2009 (EDT)
Yeah, I noticed that after you reverted it and realized that AD would be the time era they would use in those times (it's been a couple years since I seen the episode). The only reason I went and changed the era names (there's only a few that actually use these names) is because I doubt a race of alien robots would use terms like Before Christ and The Year of Our Lord (only in Latin).--AWT88 13:50, 19 June 2009 (EDT)

Ruined Forever

[edit]

Look, I get why this was trimmed back, but god damnit, Hassenfeld Brothers "ruining the textile remnant industry forever" is hilarious and you know it. (Alternate caption: "Fans of textile remnants remain critical, however." -hx at work

Joke overkill

[edit]

Look, I love the "Ruined FOREVER" gag just as much as anyone else, and it definitely needs to stay on this article, but I think this article's taken it a little bit too far now. It's like every other sentence ends with "ruined FOREVER" now - it's threatening to become as tired as the things Bonecrusher hates. Incidentally, he hates how this article's overusing this gag.--Spin-Out (talk) 13:20, 7 March 2016 (EST) (edited to elaborate more)

I really think it should only apply to things that they really said ruined it, too. It's funny to use it sarcastically a few times, but to apply it to Transformers Prime kills the joke, in my opinion. That's what I call the low hanging fruit of jokes. When you use it so obviously and predictably. In addition to TF: Prime being a smash hit with most fans, although that doesn't mean you can't make jokes about the show. --Luka1184 (talk) 05:31, 10 July 2017 (EDT)
Despite my laughing at most of them, I agree, and there are still a lot even now. (17 of them, I think cutting out at least 5 would help.) This article has forever ruined ruined FOREVER.--Oshenwave (talk) 19:33, 29 June 2020 (EDT)
I rather expected "ruining Transformers Animated's chances at a fourth season forever." Would it be worth changing it to that, or would it seriously mislead more people into misblaming Prime's existence for the cancellation of Animated? --Bag of Magic Food (talk) 23:11, 2 April 2021 (EDT)
