The inhibitor/deterrence chip (I/D chip for short) is an evolution of the deterrence chip. While containing the deterring and explosive power of the previous chip, it also possess the ability to inhibit the recipient's alternate mode and weaponry.

Skywarp's I/D chip was revealed to be defective by Starscream. Ratbat also implied that Skywarp's wasn't the only Decepticon in such case.
