Zad (ザド Zado) is a lizard that transforms into an axe weapon.

Zad transforms from a robotic gecko into a... double-spinning-blade (blades do not actually spin) axe kind of thing. He has multiple 5mm posts and holes as part of the Arms Micron play pattern, allowing him to be combined with other Mini-Cons to form bigger and more ridiculous weapons. He comes in two different colors; "Zad 1" is solid black plastic, "Zad 2" is reddish-purple.

Zad was initially available through Gacha capsule vending machines, first appearing in early June of 2012. Zad 1 came in a clear-blue capsule, Zad 2 in a clear-yellow capsule. On August 20 of 2012, he was released as part of the Arms Micron Gum series, though only "Zad 2" was part of this assortment.

Notes

• Zad's name is a shortening of "lizard", accomplished by dropping characters from the Japanese spelling of the word, turning rizādo (リザード) into zado (ザド). Despite what you might immediately think, his name doesn't translate as "Zard" because of the lack of an extended vowel sound on the "za".
• Zad and Gob have unique colors to their Energon Crystals; what quality they are supposed to represent is currently unknown.
