BotCon 1995 was organized and hosted by prominent fan Raksha, who also named and designed (kinda) the convention's exclusive toy, Nightracer.

It was held from August 5 to August 6, 1995, at the Dayton Convention Center in Dayton, Ohio.

Merchandise

Seven years later, we'd get an Autobot.
  • Nightracer - A redeco of the Go-Bot High Beam.
  • T-shirts - Red or purple, each had the G1 Autobot and Decepticon symbols along with convention information.
  • Magnet - It was very colorful.
  • BotCon '95 Magazine

Raksha also sold her self-produced fanzine, Conquest, which was a compilation of various fan-submitted fiction, essays, poems, and artwork.

Events

  • Dealer's Room
  • Broken Toy Repair Panel
  • Fan Club Overview Panel
  • Fan Media Producers' Panel
  • Art Room featuring a display of both 2-D and 3-D fanart as well as an Art Contest and Auction run by David Kolody-Nagy.
  • A Display Room featuring various collections of both toy and non-toy related Transformers memorabilia.
  • A 24-hour Video Room showing both U.S. and Japanese episodes.
  • Trivia Contest
  • Laser show set to the soundtrack of The Transformers: The Movie.

Notes

  • Raksha had initially wanted the exclusive toy to be a version of Generation 2 Smokescreen, but was told by Hasbro that since that figure is gang-molded with Dreadwing it would not be available individually.
  • Hasbro had agreed to do a presentation but according to Jon Hartman they backed out because both Kenner and Hasbro were in the midst of reorganization. Consequently, none of the invited employees were available for the convention.
